Pressure piled on from the start…

Ipswich Ladies 1s host Old Loughtonians under the lights for a late push back at Tuddenham Road.

The first whistle goes and Ipswich get off to a shaky start with conceding an early short corner. Luckily, they kept the scoreboard clean and gathered up some composure. Ipswich struggled to get the ball out of their half for what felt like a long time. Before the close of the first quarter, Ipswich found some space to counter attack. POTM, young Bea Noordhuis offloaded the ball nicely to Lizzy Wheelhouse who carried hard with options from her fellow forwards in the D. The pass reached May Percival who bagged her second goal in consecutive weeks! 1-0 first quarter.

Ipswich were found again under the pump in the second quarter with some late decisions on passes and losing the battles in some physical tackles. However, Ipswich found some success going forward and were awarded their first short corner. A bobbling injection required the brave Charlie Phillips to take it out of the D before finding Taylor Ball who gets it at the backboard. 2-0 Ipswich.
Old Loughts didn’t get phased by the lead and half it minutes before half time.

Change of ends brought Ipswich more pressure and the defensive lines had to work hard! Defenders Emma Logan and Kat Wrinch fought hard and tried to deny Old Loughts a chance. Unfortunately with some intercepted transfer balls, Old Loughts run the baseline for a deflection goal, making the score level.

In the final quarter Ipswich held Old
Loughts to a draw after some tense moments right to the final whistle.
Another point on the board for Ipswich as they head into week 3.

Another stat for the week: the Ladies 1s remain unbeaten against Old Loughts in the National League. Long may that continue…

Another long away day against Spencer - will Ipswich be able to reproduce their away win over them last season?
