The first Suffolk Youth League tournament of the season will be hosted by the Ipswich and East Suffolk hockey club (IES) at Ipswich School Sports Centre in Rushmere on Sunday 15th October. Full directions to the sports centre can be found on the Ipswich School website (or Google Maps).
Suffolk Youth League is intended to be a friendly set of matches with the emphasis on developing match play experience, rather than on winning, and we actively want all children to have an equal opportunity to play and to treat it as part of training.
The tournament is expected to start at 9:30 so we will need to be there for 9:00 to warm up. I do not have the full fixture list at present but would expect the tournament to finish by around 12. Under 10’s play in this tournament as mixed teams rather than as boys and girls. The full team is listed below:
Barstow, Samuel |
Duff, Ivy |
El Mahraout, Adam |
Evans, Emily |
Greet-Smith, Barnaby |
Holmefjord Phillips, Alva |
Horsfield Burton, Alex |
Jarvis, Dylan |
Jarvis, Fraser |
Lawley, Sam |
Matthews, Charlie |
Morgan Bell, Ella |
Noordhuis, Beatrice |
O'Sullivan, Rudy |
Palfrey, Finaly |
Sheldon , Esther |
Staples, Astrid |
The players can come off and go back on again so we normally roll players on and off with everyone taking part in all matches.
As parents, you will be expected to ensure that you, or someone else, has responsibility for your child at all times. Coaches and team managers will not be able to look after them for the periods when they do not have matches.
Kat Blake and Jane Cook have volunteered to coach and umpire as well. Also, Adam El Mahraout's mother, Rebecca Banister, has kindly offered to help with the umpiring. Umpires are allowed to provide on pitch coaching, so many teams have the coach umpiring and have another person to stay with any players not on the pitch and to manage substitutions (that will be Charlotte and Jonathan).
Please note that there will not be any training at Tuddenham Road for under 10s on Sunday.
