With an U16 team and two U14 teams playing today subs were in short supply but with three back to back games the U14 A's worked hard as a team throughout. With four U14 players playing U16 other players took the opportunity to step up and show what they can do. Looking down the pitch there were comments about how much bigger some of the opposition teams were but this didn't deter them - a tight first game saw two goals in the first half against Blue Harts to win 2-0 with a very tight second half. Next up was a well supplied Saffron Waldon team with a full squad who'd just drawn with Magpies but Ipswich made them work for their 2-1 victory, with several opportunities that on another day would have found the target. Finishing the day off was the game against Magpies which was battled to the finish, ending 4-2 to Magpies but was closer than the score suggests. With a hasty bit of maths to work out the finishing order coach Oli got the maths wrong and had us in 4th but here are the full results with Ipswich getting a credible 3rd.
Ips v BH 2-0, MP v SW 2-2(?)
Ips v SW 1-2, MP v BH 2-0
Ips v MP 2-4, SW v BH 1-3
1st Magpies (6 points)
2nd Saffron Waldon (4 points)
3rd Ipswich (3 points -1 goal difference)
4th Blue Harts (3 points -2 goal difference)
All the team worked their socks off, fuelled with chocolate, haribo and a good dose of Ipswich heart. So no motm awards as they all played equal parts. Thank you to all the parents for their support and surviving the icy wind on the side line.
