EH O35 Masters Cup
Ipswich v Chelmsford
Result: Win 5-2
Scorers: M Rix (2), S Bamfield, S Daley, L Wheelhouse

On a cold and wet windy day Ipswich got their Masters cup campaign off to a flying start with a good 5-2 victory over old rivals Chelmsford.

Ipswich were missing regular GK Claire Gould due to a back injury but Sarah Logan donned the pads and did a great job of stepping into her shoes.

Chelmsford started much the brighter and went 1-0 up and were putting Ipswich under pressure, however the home side eventually warmed up and started to pepper the away teams goal but the ball was just millimeters from crossing the line on 3 occasions. Ipswich kept composed and when the next chance fell to Maritte Rix she powered it into the net. It was an impressive goal by any standards but considering Rix has had a long an successful career as GK it made it even more special.

Ipswich were now dominating and it wasn't long before Bamfield put them in the lead. Half time saw the game finely balanced at 2-1 and Chelmsford again started well but Logan in goal was making great saves and Ipswich once more scored on the counter. This time Daley with a cracking shot. Then it was Rix's turn again to hit another rocket to make it 4-1. Chelmsford then grabbed another goal to make it 4-2 but Ipswich had the last word with Lizzy Wheelhouse scoring to make it 5-2.

A good all round team performance and the Suffolk side look forward to the next round on the 27th November.
