Ipswich will wonder what they need to do to secure their first points, as once again the Suffolk side played some outstanding hockey but lost by 1 goal.
The game started with their opponents having the best of play, and on the 10th minute they converted that pressure into the opening goal.
Whilst the first quarter didn’t go to plan Ipswich finally found their feet in the second and created some great pressure by Holly Dean up front, ably supported by her fellow forwards, Kate Wingar, Eloise Ward & Lizzy Wheelhouse.
But as has been the recent story that pressure was not converted into goals and half time saw Ipswich still trailing.
The second half was more of the same with player of rhe match Sophie Sunderland causing problems for the visitors all over the pitch. Yet despite a run of corners the home side could it find that crucial breakthrough.
Wayfarers we’re still hunting for thier second goal and only a couple of smart saves by Ali Barham kept them out. With 15 minutes to go wayfarers finally moved further ahead, a well worked corner finally beating Barham.
This ipswich team has a strong belief and pushed harder to get a goal. With only minutes left on the clock Sophie Sexton finally found a way through at a corner to make it 2-1. The first goal their opponents had conceded.
Time was against the home side though and the final score once again did not reflect the game.
Ipswich will re-group and focus on the next match away b canterbury 2’s.
