Ipswich started well with player of the match Frankie Rogers playing at right back for the first time distributing the ball positively up the line for the midfield and forwards to run onto.
Sarah Daley had the first chance on goal, a shot from the top of the D forcing a save by the Canterbury keeper. This was followed up with numerous chances by forwards Lizzy Wheelhouse and Chloe Williams along with midfielders Sophie Sexton, Kate Wingar and Micha Knowles, sadly not able to reach the back of the net.
Canterbury had a break before halftime which saw them get a lucky deflection in the Ipswich D forcing an own goal to take the lead. Ipswich continued to defend well with Kat Blake, Beth Scott and Ellie Scott transferring the ball confidently round the back.
Ipswich countered well with numerous circle entries and it seemed only a matter of time before they capitalised but it wasn’t meant to be and Canterbury held on well to take the 3 points.
Again Ipswich proved how far they have come, but still unable to claim their first points of the season. They go again next week with an away game against Bedford.
