Exciting opportunity to coach established National League team.

We are hiring!

Ipswich Hockey Club Women’s 1st Team are looking for a passionate head coach. The team have secured their National League status for the second season running, sitting mid-table in both seasons.

Our facilities were recently renovated, with future plans for the venue in Ipswich.

Can you coach and inspire a group of players with a wide range of experience?

Are you passionate about hockey & improving yourself as a coach?

Do you hold a UKCC England Hockey Sessional Coach qualification or be willing to work towards this before the start of the season?

Are you eligible to work in the UK (UK passport or valid work permit)?

Are you looking for a long-term coaching role?

If you can answer YES to the questions above then you could be the coach/player coach we are looking for.

Preseason starts at the end of July and the season runs from September to March. The National League winter break usually sees games pause at the end of November and restart after the indoor season, in February.

About us
Our team has a strong history of National League hockey. The team has seen 30 years in National League (19 of those years in the Premier League). Our most recent targets included securing National League hockey for another year in the 2021/22 season, and aiming to achieve a mid-table finish for the 2022/23 season.

The team are also no stranger to Indoor success having reached the National finals on many an occasion. We intend to enter the Indoor league again for the 2023/24 season.

The squad is a mixture of ages and experience and includes players with over 10 years National League experience as well as many looking to establish themselves at that level. Last year saw a number of players play their first National League games for the club and gain experience at this level which should provide future benefit.
Job description

The role involves:

o Pre-Season (starting in July)

o 2 Training sessions per week.

o All Saturday match days (may be some Sunday games weather/league dependent)

o Possibly the Indoor season depending on candidate’s experience (December to February)

This would ideally be a long-term appointment with a yearly review at the end of every season. The appointed person will be expected to fulfil all the duties of a Head coach. This includes but is not limited to:
• Plan and deliver training sessions suitable for a team playing in the National League

• Work with an Assistant Coach and Manager
• Travel with the team to all games

You will need a minimum UKCC England Hockey Sessional Coach qualification or equivalent and be eligible to work in the UK (UK passport or valid work permit) and speak a good standard of English.

Experience of coaching at a high level is desirable, as is working with high calibre athletes and Junior Internationals.
