I'm delighted to announce that for the coming season Owen Thom will be the Men's 1st XI Coach with Foxy taking on a coaching support role for the Men's 2s. Owen was instrumental in delivering a brilliant second half of the last season for the 2nd XI and now steps into Foxy's shoes with the 1s. Foxy was a superstar last year helping us out whilst he recovered from a nasty eye injury and now he is looking forward to playing again.
With numerous National League caps and experience as an England youth player, Owen Thom brings a wealth of playing and coaching expertise to our club. He is committed to pushing both our men’s first and second teams toward promotions. Owen has a clear vision for the squad, focusing on building upon the quality already present. He aims to add new dimensions to the team, transforming them into an force capable of restoring the club to National League status.
A driven and accomplished hockey player and coach, Owen has a proven track record of helping players reach their highest potential. As a seasoned and dedicated figure in the sport, he fosters a positive team environment that inspires success on and off the pitch.
Sam Edwards will also take on a Men's 1s Manager role, a most welcome addition and we have no doubt he will be supporting our Chief Pub Officer as well as helping us deliver success. Josh Fry will continue as Men's captain with Sam Lyon as vice. James Southgate will also return to playing this season (and now this is in writing, it's actually considered a contract under the club constitution).
The Men's 1s are on a recruitment drive so please do get in contact with talent who may be free to join Ipswich Hockey Club.
