We've had a few tournaments so far this season and we expect to pick up the pace after Christmas. We've also tried to get as many players involved as possible but I acknowledge we may have not got around to everyone thus far! Please do speak to Storm or me if you have any concerns or questions.
After Christmas we're going to be limiting the number of players we have in our U12 squad and are unlikely to be able to bring in any NEW members, the reason is that we need to be able to ensure we can give all our players the right coaching, matches and development. We're also probably going to experiment with some Friday night sessions where we will have more time to focus on just the U12 girls and get them ready for the second half of the season where we have the Suffolk championships and then IN2 East hockey if we qualify as winners or runners up.
Below are the reports from the hockey at Magpies a few weeks back where Nareen and Storm took the teams.
Match Reports
This photo sums up a fantastically fun day at Harleston. The silver team started a bit tentatively and such lost the first match, but only grew from here. Their second match showed some good passing and calling for the ball resulting in several shots on goal. Dragons had an amazing keeper and I’m confident we would have scored a hat track had it not been for her. Still learning and growing as a team they rocked a 2-0 win in their penultimate game. Their final match against a home crowd was really even, with both teams having shots on goal and neither finding the way out of midfield. Ipswich lost their shape a bit towards the end and Magpies capitalised. The silver team should be proud of how they grew throughout the tournament. Passed the ball well, some good calls and plenty shots on goal. Bravo.
The Gold teams trajectory almost mirrored the silver team with an initial game against the eventual winners Dereham, finishing in a 4-0 loss with the team understandably being disjointed having never played together before. Although they lost their games, 2-0 to Dragons where we got hit with two break away goals, 3-1 against a very strong Magpies team, with a good team goal finished by Becka and a final 2-0 loss to Norwich City where we were in the game the whole time. There was a visible improvement in both teamwork and confidence as the games went on. The work rate of the players has increased markedly as the season has progressed and if we can work on the teams individually with structure and game play, we will see the whole sections result improved as we go.Some of the distribution and tackling also needs special mention as we never gave up. Again a massive thanks to Coach Nareen with the Silver team.
