The juniors, as ever, set the tempo for the club’s week. The boys’ and girls’ U10s were crowned Suffolk champions only last week, and this weekend the U12s will attempt to repeat that feat once more. Their reward, should they manage it, will be a place in the East Finals on the 25th and 26th of April. It is worth pausing here: our junior section is vast, vital and, in truth, the heartbeat of this club. Without their steady supply of players and energy, we would not be fielding 12 adult sides. The coaching staff, too, deserve their share of applause; their commitment to these youngsters has laid foundations that will hold for years. And next Sunday, the girls’ U14s take their place in a national cup semi‑final at Tuddenham — well worth your support.
Among the adults, focus shifts to the Men’s 1s, Men’s 3s and Women’s 2s. The Men’s 1s, fresh from a composed 4–0 win last weekend, sit second and remain in pursuit of promotion to the National League. The arithmetic is simple enough: they must win their final two matches — and win them well — while hoping Blueharts stumble against either Cambridge University or Cambridge City. Blueharts have been dogged in their progress, eking out results with admirable relentlessness, but stranger things have happened in the final weeks of a season.
For the Men’s 3s, the task is clearer still: three more points to guarantee safety. A sizeable encounter against Bury awaits, and one suspects that a strong showing should be enough to see them over the line.
The Women’s 2s find themselves in a more precarious position. With the knock‑on effect of teams coming down from the National divisions into the East, survival now likely demands two wins from two — UEA and Sudbury their opponents. It will require grit, but they have shown plenty of that already.
Two games remain. Best of blue to all.
