The management committee met last week and I assure you pre season planning is rather full on; I never saw a tenth of it in the job description James Southgate gave me. That said, I'm rather impressed with how everything and everyone is operating - coaches are being appointed, pitch slots booked, captains and fixtures being organised and we're all looking forward to the coming pre-season.

I spoke to Nick Fry and Craig the Wiiderbeest last week and we got onto the topic of fitness. With this in mind, we're delighted to introduce a club wide Fit as a Butcher's Dog challenge (I do hope this phrase is still in circulation or I may have just lost some of you).

The beauty of this challenge is everyone can participate - the fittest does not have to be in a 1st XI or a young Roger Bannister as the world of running has an age grade % meaning a 50 year old could trump the top time of a 20 year old.

Here's all you need to do. Time your 5/10k run, record your time on the link below and we'll provide updates over the summer. Please update it each time your beat your best and no treadmill running allowed. It's all about honour, don't dig out your 1992 Suffolk PB:

Will this work, will lots of players get involved, I don't know, but I would like to think that with some encouragement from Captains and Club Captains we can get some good participation.
