Here's the results from the weekend along with a match report from the Men's 1st XI. Can I also take this opportunity to remind you of our sponsor's day and Pie and a Pint event for the 1st XI matches on 7th November. Tickets are available to purchase on line HERE. We need you there supporting our Women's 1s and Men's 1s and it will be belting afternoon of hockey.
As far as the season to date goes, it has been a very pleasing start, particularly for the Men's 1st XI and Men's 2nd XI, who have both recorded two wins from their opening two matches. There have also been plenty of encouraging performances across the club, with a number of young players stepping into adult hockey and making an immediate impact.
A special mention goes to all those who have made their Ipswich Hockey Club debuts over the last fortnight. Your energy and commitment are making a difference and you are playing the Ipswich way. Equally, thank you to the more experienced players who have supported and guided our younger members as they make the transition into senior hockey.
It's still very early days, and with around 20 league matches remaining there is plenty of hockey to be played. Will it be a season of promotions, cup runs and memorable achievements, or one of near misses and lessons learned? Time will tell, but the signs so far are certainly encouraging.

Men's 1st XI Match Report
After a strong performance last week, the team made the short journey to Wilberforce Road to face Cambridge University. Following a strong team talk, the boys were determined to set the tone of the game early and that is exactly what they did.
Ipswich came flying out of the blocks, putting Cambridge under pressure from the first whistle. The early pressure paid off within just two minutes, with Wardy opening the scoring after stealing the goal from our German import on the line.
Ipswich continued to dominate, winning the ball high up the pitch and putting Cambridge's defence under constant pressure. Miles soon added a second before Jimmy made it three, giving Ipswich a commanding 3–0 lead.
The second quarter followed a similar pattern, with Ipswich dominating possession and pressing Cambridge high up the pitch. Despite creating plenty of pressure and winning the ball in dangerous areas, the boys were unable to add to the scoreline.
Cambridge managed to regroup defensively, but Ipswich remained firmly in control and went into half-time 3–0 up.
The half-time message was simple: do not become complacent. The boys were told to continue showing the same intensity and dominance that had put them in such a strong position.
The half-time team talk clearly had the desired effect. Ipswich came out with renewed energy and quickly began putting Cambridge under pressure once again. Miles found the back of the net for his second of the game before Jimmy also grabbed his second, taking Ipswich's advantage to 5–0. There were also a few strong appeals for a penalty flick, although these were dismissed by the umpires.
With the game already firmly under Ipswich's control, the team refused to take their foot off the gas. They continued to press, move the ball well and create opportunities.
The pressure eventually paid off with Ipswich adding a sixth and final goal with Tom slotting it into the top corner, completing a dominant 6–0 victory and securing a well-deserved clean sheet.
