Ipswich Hockey Club, as we know it, was formed officially in the summer of 2002
after many long years of negotiation between Ipswich Men, Orwell Ladies and
Ipswich Ladies Hockey Club.
Both original clubs were formed over 100 years ago and have a large amount of
history between them.
We now run over 10 senior teams, alongside 2 veterans teams and a whole host
of Junior sides ranging in ages from under 8's to under 18's.
The Men run 6 Senior teams, ranging in playing standard from 1st team in the
English Hockey League East Conference through to the fun loving but highly
competitive Veterans.
While the Women run 5 senior teams, ranging from the highly successful
1st team that play in the English Hockey League Premier Division through to the enthusiastic
5th team playing in the Suffolk League Division 1.
We also run a mixed side
which plays in the national
Mixed Cup and were Plate National Champions in 2006.

We are a two site club, each boast's a sand based Astroturf pitch and
best of all they are only a 5 minute drive apart. Both sites have ample car parking, changing
rooms and refreshment facilities. The Tuddenham Road site is totally
dedicated to serving the hockey section, while the Henley Road site serves, the
hockey, tennis, gym and squash section and is the centre for admin staff.
The hockey club also forms part of a bigger umbrella Club known as Ipswich
Sports Club and with a total of well over 1,500 members, it is one of the largest non-profit members only
clubs in the area.
The Sports Club offers not only facilities for hockey but as mentioned above,
also for tennis,
squash, table tennis and gym work.
Ipswich Hockey Club has a bright future in the local, regional and national
game, please follow the membership link on the left if you want to be a part of
it.
