Team Spin
Ipswich
Hockey Club’s Women’s 1st team did
themselves and the club proud on Saturday as they ran,
cycled, rowed and cross-trained to a stunning total of 817
miles. The
team were due to cover 41 miles each to hit the target on
the day but due to a clash of commitments for a couple of
players in the team, who could not be there, this target
became 50 miles. It was a huge credit to the team that
everyone on the day made their total, even if the last 9
miles were very painful indeed.
The pain was made bearable by the generous gym and
Club members that donated miles and cash on the day. The team hope to have raised a substantial amount to split between themselves and the 3 charities, Suffolk Sport Aid, Help for Heroes and The Willow Foundation. Please keep the donations coming. The team would like to thank Ipswich Sports Club on Henley Road for the support and use of the gym and Ivan Clenenelle for lending us the spinning bikes. Special thanks on the day must go to midfielder Annie Nunn of AKN Fitness (www.aknfitness.co.uk) who co-ordinated the day so well and kept us ticking over. Also
Manager Donna Mills, who made sure she kept a tally of all
the miles, Mike Tew who supported us all day and put in
some serious miles, Anni Broster who made sure we were
powered up by lucozade and had a lead bike and finally
assistant coach Mark Wheelhouse who did some serious miles
and led us home for the final 9 miles. There
will no doubt be some tired legs and saddle sore bottoms
for a while but in 2 weeks time when the outdoor EHL
league resumes, Ipswich
will only have too look back on what they achieved in the
gym to realise that winning a hockey game is the easy bit! |
