Ipswich 2's v St Neots

Result: Won 5-0

Scorers: G Reed, K Dixon (2), A Cook, Underwood

Ipswich mens 2s aka Dads Army were up and running with a opening friendly win away to St. Neots. New captain Reed got them up and running with the first goal, before further goals from Dixon x2, cook and Underwood made the game safe.

New recruit Paul Calver had a strong start to his Ipswich career as did youngster Mickey. Reed the worst player on the pitch by far will take great encouragement at how youngsters, Max Underwood, Harry Martin and Josh Fry performed.

Ipswich take on Harleston 2s at Henley road this weekend and then travel to Norwich City 1s before kicking off against Cambridge City 1s in the first league game.

Friendly

Ipswich 5's v Cranes

Result: Won 8-1

Scorers: Ben Askins 3, Alan Barker 2, Blake Elliot, Richard le Vay, Andy Mays

Ipswich 5s started the new seasons round of friendlies with an emphatic win over local rivals Cranes 2. Alan Barker scored the first of his two goals in the first five minutes following some fine interplay on the left by Richard le Vay & Ben Askins.

Ipswich dominated the first half & barely allowed Cranes out of their own half with short passes & good running off the ball.

The second period continued in the same format, allowing Ben Askins to complete his hatrick & gave Blake Elliot, who was signed from Chelmsford following a multi pence deal, his debut goal.

A sterner test will undertaken next week against Harleston Magpies but if todays performance is a measure of the new season, then the 5s should have a promising season.
