Derby games sees hat-trick of victories, as 4 is the magic number.

The top 2 sides in the Men's and Ladies section got of to the best possible starts with 4 victories, 3 of them against local rivals Harleston.

The top clash saw the Ladies 1's travel to Norfolk to tackle newly prompted Magpies, in a tight first 20 minutes it looked as if it would be a close game but Ipswich's extra experience and class at the top level eventually began to tell. Playing well in patch's the Suffolk side ran out comfortable 4-0 winners but know that they will have to step up their game next weekend as they face a tougher test in old rivals Slough.

The  Men's 1st team, who faced Magpies Men looked as if they would repeat the Ladies 4-0 win with 20 minutes to go but a few defense lapses saw their winning  score line pulled back to 4-3.

At home the Ladies 2's also scored 4 as they beat Norwich Union 4-3. A Lucy Philp hat-trick on of the highlights. The  Men's 2's completed the derby whitewash as they beat Magpies 2's 6-4.

The Ladies 3's started with a very hard  away game against Braintree and went down 7-0. With over half of the team under 18 this was always going to be a hard game. The Men's 3's tasted defeat in their opening East Div 2 North game as they lost 3-0 to  Cambridge University 3's. The Ladies 4's started with a 3-0 win but unfortunately this was due to opponents  Mildenhall pulling out of the league.  The Men's 4's traveled to Southend to play their 2's and lost 4-2. Finally the Men's 5's also lost 4-2 to  Felixstowe 3's.

The Under 11 boys have a tournament in March.  The squad will be picked by invitation (based on discussions with school/club managers and performances in the mini hockey championships).  In Suffolk we have decided to start trials at under 12 – we feel that open trials at under 11 are not appropriate.
