Women
1's have mixed weekend but Aldous and Hall shine
The
Women's 1's
returned from their northern epic
with a record of 1 loss and 1 win. Saturday they lost to Olton
2-1 but were frustrated by some poor umpiring decisions.
Sunday saw Ipswich finally click into gear as the destroyed
Doncaster 4-1 to get their season on track. The highlights of
the weekend though were 17 Year old Jenny Halls coring 3 goals
in 2 games and Lizzy Aldous also scoring 2 to take her to
second in the League goal scoring list.
The
Women's 2's march
on unbeaten and crushed Cambridge University 2's 6-0 to go 4
points clear at the top of the table.
The
Women's 3's
are also still top of the East Div 2 C after beating Haverhill
3-0.
The
Women's 4's beat
Haverhill 2's 2-0 to also remain top of the table.
The
Men's 1st
have a weekend off due to the Junior Regional tournament
taking place in Manchester.
The
Men's 2's
continued their erratic season losing 5-3 to Cambridge City.
The Men's 3's
thrashed Pelican 2's 14-2 and are
sitting pretty in 2nd place in the Div 3NE league.
The
Men's 4's are
still
top of East league Div 5NE and put in a great performance
beating second placed Pelican 3's 11-0 to move 5 points clear
at the top of the table.
The
Men's Vet's
also sit top of the table after beating Harleston 5-0 and that
was without top goal scorer Peter Galding.

Ipswich
Juniors shine at Regional Tournament as U17's are Champions.
Ipswich
had the most players from any club in the East U17 team and Scott Gilmour, Phil
Messent, William Hearne and Ben
Glading all played a massive
part in securing the Regional Crown for the East.
Harry Martin, Max Underwood, Sean Collins and Tom Dunnett all
also did themselves and the Club proud as they finished in 5th
place with the East U15 side.

Women
1's face tough away games as Men have weekend off.
The
Women's 1's
face the long journey North this weekend as they travel to
play Olton & West Warwick on Saturday and then Doncaster
on Sunday. Both games will prove a stern test for Ipswich but
the team is buoyed by the arrival of South African
International Kate Hector
and the return of striker Jenny
Hall
from East duty. Kate played for South Africa
at the recent World Cup and she will be making her first appearance
in an Ipswich shirt since 2003.
The
Women's 2's will
be keen to keep up their 5 game unbeaten start and their lead
at the top of East Div1 North when they travel to Cambridge to
take on the University's 2nd team.
The
Women's 3's
are also still top of the East Div 2 C and will want to make
sure they beat old rivals Haverhill on Saturday.
The
Women's 4's are
again a team at the top of the pile and they face Haverhill
2's.
The
Men's 1st
have a weekend off due to the Junior Regional tournament
taking place in Manchester.
The
Men's 2's
lie 5th in East Prem A and face 8th Place Cambridge City
in a game they know they should win.
The Men's 3's lie
unbeaten and second in the table in East Div 3 NE and face 4th
placed Pelican 2's.
The
Men's 4's are
top of East league Div 5NE but face 2nd placed and also
unbeaten Pelican 3's, in a to of the table clash.
The
Men's Vet's
face another top of the table clash against
Harleston
and will be keen to get the win against tough opponents.

Men
get tasty home Cup draw v Old Loughtonians
The
men's 1st team will welcome Slazenger EHL Div1 Team Old Loughtonians
to Tuddenham Road on Sun 19th November (14.00 Start) for a 4th
round cup tie. This will be a great opportunity for
Ipswich to compete with a team from the next league up and it
should be a good game. With several ex-Ipswich players now turning
out for the Essex side there will also be a few personal
battles that players will be keen to win.
|
1st
social goes down well.
The
first official social took place at Tud rd on Saturday and the
event was particularly well attend by the younger members.
A
massive thank you to Lizzy Aldous, Kat Wrinch, Lucy Gallagher,
Toby Lever and anyone else who helped out. It was a very funny
and entertaining night. Watch this space for pics!!

Women
1's & Men's 1's grab a point each, as rest of the club is
unbeaten and 5 teams sit top of their leagues.
The
Women's 1's
started their 2006 Slazenger EHL Premier Campaign with a 3-3
draw against Old Loughtonians. Despite being disappointed with
only securing 1 point, Ipswich must reflect on the fact that
they were missing 4 players from their squad and still had
chances to win the game.
The
Women's 2's destroyed
the City of Peterborough 5-0 and climbed to the head of the
East Div1 North table.
The
Women's 3's
are also still top of the East Div 2 C table managing a
good1-1 draw with Yarmouth.
The
Women's 4's also
sit top the table in Suffolk Div 1 as 3rd placed Sudbury 4's conceded
the game early on Saturday morning.
The
Men's 1st
got their first point under new Coach Nick Fry as they drew
3-3 with Bromley and Beckingham. Sunday then saw their weekend
get even better as they outplayed Harleston to win 4-2 and
march into the 4th round of the Cup.
The
Men's 2's
beat bottom of the league side West Herts 5-3 to see them move
back up the East Prem A table.
The Men's 3's were
unstoppable against IES 2's hammering in 7goals without reply,
keeping them second in the table.
The
Men's 4's
are another Ipswich side that top their league, and they
continued to remain unbeaten as they won 3-2 against Sudbury
3's.
The
Men's Vet's
beat Colchester 4-2 to become the 5th Ipswich side to top their
league
this weekend.

Women
1's kick off EHL Premier, while Men see if new coach makes the
difference.
The
Women's 1's
finally start their 2006 Slazenger EHL Premier Campaign with a
home game against Old Loughtonians (14.00 Tud Rd). Missing Jo
Ellis due to recovering from England duty and Jenny Hall due
to East commitments, Ipswich have given 1st team debuts to
several outstanding 2nd team players -Hannah Godfrey, Kat
Wrinch, Lucy Gallagher and Sarah Tallent.
With such a young and keen input into the already experienced
team Ipswich are looking forward to the game and will be
wanting all 3 points.
The
Women's 2's
welcome the City of Peterborough
and will want another win as they look ahead to a table
topping clash next week against leaders St Ives.
The
Women's 3's
are top of the East Div 2 C table and will aim to stay there
as they travel to Yarmouth to play a side only 2 points behind
them.
The
Women's 4's also
top the table in Suffolk Div 1 but face a tough game against
3rd placed Sudbury 4's.
The
Men's 1st
play their first game under the guidance of new Coach Nick
Fry. Saturday they travel to Bromley and Beckingham to play a
team in 6th place and then on Sunday they face local rivals Harleston
in the 3rd Round of the Cup. Despite the desire to get the win
over their Norfolk rivals on Sunday, Saturday is the key game
in this weekend and Ipswich will be channeling all their
concentration into getting something out of that fixture.
The
Men's 2's will
want to bounce back against bottom of the league side West
Herts, but as last weekends game proved ther are no easy games
in this league.
The Men's 3's have
a local derby game v IES 2's and will want to secure the win
to keep them in second place.
The
Men's 4's still
sit proudly at the top of the pile in East Leageu Div 5NE and
this weekend face Sudbury 3's who sit mid-table.
The
Men's Vet's
also top the table and will look to carry on in that vein this
weekend as they travel to Colchester.

Men
1's fall to Welsh visitors, as Coach quits.
The
Men's 1st
matched and outplayed visitors Whitchurch in the first half at
Tuddenham Road but an injury to Short corner specialist and
top scorer Kier Dixon early on in the second half saw the
Suffolk outfit come undone as they let in 4 goals and slipped
to a 5-1 defeat that leaves them in 10th place. After the
defeat Coach Kath MacDonald handed in her resignation. Ipswich
will appoint a new coach i time for Saturdays away game at
Bromley and Beckingham.
The
Men's 2's could
not repeat last weekend heroics and came unstuck losing 6-4
against a inspired Bluehearts team.
The
table topping Men's 3's were
knocked of their perch into second as they could only manage a
2-2 draw with Lowestoft Town.
The
Men's 4's though
carried on with their winning ways beating Norfolk Nomads 6-0,
making sure the 4's still sit top of the Div5 NE table.
The
newly created Men's 5's
played a friendly on Sunday, awaiting the result.
The
Men's Vet's
also carried on with winning ways beating Bedford 6-1. The
only blot on the landscape is the goal against them which is
the first one they have conceded so far!
The
Women's 2's
blew away any doubts about not traveling well, when they
overcame watton3-0, with a Hat-trick from Sarah Tallent.
The
Women's 3's
also maintained a winning start beating Harleston 3's
5-1 to stay top of the table.
The
Women's 4's also
top the table in Suffolk Div 1 with a good 4-0 win over
Carlton park 2's.

Men
1's keen to collect points against Whitchurch.
The Men's 1st
welcome 10th placed Whitchurch to Tuddenham road on Sunday.
Ipswich sit only 1 place and 2 points above their Welsh
opponents and will want to make sure they take all 3 points.
Whitchurch's 1 point was earned by a 1-1 draw with the
university of Birmingham and with Ipswich beating the students
4-1 in their opening league game, hopes are high that the
Suffolk side can claim their second win of the season on
Sunday.
The
Men's 2's will
need to bring themselves down to earth after last weeks good
win in over Broxbourne and they face a struggling Bluehearts
team who have yet to gain a win.
The
table topping Men's 3's will
be surely given a stern test this weekend as they play Lowestoft
Town, who are only 3 points behind them.
The
Men's 4's also
top their table and face Norfolk Nomads who have won 1 game
this season so far.
The
newly created Men's 5's
will play a friendly on Sunday at Tuddenham road 16.00.
The
Men's Vet's
play Bedford on Saturday and will be looking
to maintain their top of the table position
with another win.
The
Women's
2's face a tough away game to
Watton but should have the skill and strength in the squad to
continue their winning ways.
The
Women's 3's
will be keen to maintain their winning start to the season,
as they host Harleston 3's.
The
Women's 4's face
a Carlton park 2's side who have yet to win and will want to
claim another 3 points.

Men
1's work hard but fail the gym test, while rest of the club
hammers in 43 goals!
The Men's 1st
worked very hard to contain a talented Indian Gymkhana side
but they could not stop the scoring machine that is Tejinder
Hanspal, who fired in a hat-trick of goals to secure the
points for his team. The good news for Ipswich is that
Kier Dixon has scored in every game so far and is looking in
top form.

Keir
Dixon has scored 5 goals in 3 games
Ipswich
now need to gain maximum points from next weekends clash
against a Whitchurch team that have only claimed 1 point so
far.
The
Men's 2's produced
one of the results of the day beating Broxbourne away 1-0 to
climb to 4th place. The game was a fiery affair with 5 yellow
cards flourished, 3 for the home team but Ben Gallagher's
goal and heroics by Tony Burch in the Ipswich goal sealed the
3 points.
The
Men's 3's hammered
North Walsham 14-1 to maintain their unbeaten streak and stay
top of the Div3 NE table. Sam Gibson scoring 4 of the goals.
The
Men's 4's also
kept up the winning run, firing in 6 goals to see of Norwich
City 5's, 6-1, they too remain top of the East Div 5NE table.
The
Men's Vet's
again racked up a bucketful of goals , this time it was
Braintree that were at the end of it as the vets won 8-0 and
have yet to concede a goal. Another Ipswich team that tops the
league.
The
Women's 1's
travelled to Canterbury and came away with a satisfying win.
It was a good fast paced game and the team are looking good
for the start of the season in 2 weeks.
The
Women's
2's destroyed Norwich City 7-1
and moved into 2nd place in the league.
Amanda Gee scoring a hat-trick as Ipswich dominated the game.
The
Women's 3's
opened their league campaign with a gutsy 2-1 win over IES. Jo
Gray scoring the winner with minutes to go. A good return for
Jo who had a year out from hockey and is returning to full
fitness after breaking her ribs.
The
Women's 4's marched
on, beating Lowestoft 3' 3-0 with only 10 players. Anna
Sherring scoring a hat-trick.

England
finish 7th in World Cup
Despite coming so close
to a semi-final place England had to settle for 7th place in
the Women's World Cup. The team though did finish on a high
beating Olympic Champions Germany for the second time, this time
2-1.
The team and Ipswich's
England star Jo Ellis will now be heading home for some well
deserved recovery before teh Slazenger Premier League starts
in 2 weeks.

Men
1's look to bounce back in the league but they get tasty home
draw in Cup
The Men's 1st
have a tough task to bounce back from last weeks poor result,
as they have to travel to unbeaten Indian Gymkhana.
Having beaten them once and lost once last season Ipswich know
that the result of this game is finely balanced and a lot
could depend on the teams ability to deal with the high
scoring Tejinder
Hanspal,
The
draw for the 3rd round of the Cup saw the Premier league sides
join in but Ipswich were handed a home draw against local
rivals Harleston. As always games between these two clubs are
hotly contested but Ipswich will be looking to use their EHL experience
to make the 4th round.
The
Men's 2's will
also be hoping to bounce back but again have a tough task as
they travel to unbeaten Broxbourne.
The
Men's 3's are
looking for 3 wins out of 3 as they face a North Walsham side
that have yet to win and have shipped in 12 goals.
The
Men's 4's are
also on a hat-trick of wins as they travel to Norwich City to
take on their 5th team.
The
Men's Vet's
have been clattering in the goals and have yet to concede one
and will want more of the same as they face Braintree
The
Women's
2's face Norwich City at home
and after last weeks frustrating draw, goals is the word on everyone's
lips.
The
Women's 3's
league campaign eventually gets going with a tough away game
against local rivals IES. These games are always intense
affairs and Ipswich will be hoping for a good win.
The
Women's 4's take
on Lowestoft 3's looking to carry on their winning opening to
the season.

Extra Ipswich
additions to
East U15 Squad.
In addition to
Tom Dunnett,
Harry Martin, Max Underwood and Sean Collins
have also been selected to be part of the East U15 squad.
Congratulations to all.
|
Ipswich players make
East Squads.
Scott Gilmour, Phil
Messent, William Hearne and Ben
Glading have all been called up
to be part of the U17 squad that will be playing at
Manchester at the end of October, Ollie
Woodgate was named as a
reserve. With Messent, Hearne
and Glading all being a "year young" for their age
group it makes the achievement even more significant. To
carry on the good news Tom
Dunnett has been selected for
the East U15 squad and will also be taking part in
Manchester come the end of the month.

Men
1's go down in flames.
The Men's 1st
lost 9-3 to a rampant Firebrands side and will need to
re-group quickly as they face another tricky away game at Indian
Gymkhana on Sunday. The most frustrating thing for Ipswich was
that the score line does not reflect the overall pattern of
the game. Sunday saw them get a Walk Over in the Cup as Norwich
city could not out out a team. They now have a home game
against Harleston on Oct 22nd.
The
Men's 2's lost
5-3 to promotion hopefuls Harleston Magpies and will need to
pick themselves up quickly
as they face a tricky away game to unbeaten Broxbourne.
The
Men's 3's though
kept up their winning run as they beat Dereham 2's 3-2.
The
Men's 4's also
recorded another win, beating Norwich union 4's 2-0.
The
Men's Vet's
claimed 3
points against Bishop's Stortford with a 3-0 win and then on Sunday
romped to a 14-0 win against Royston
in the 1st round of the Veterans Cup.
The
Women's
2's left Harleston with a frustrating
0-0 draw against their 2's, with their opposition not
mustering one shot at goal in the whole game.
The
Women's 3's
league starts next weekend.
The
Women's 4's opened
their 06-07 league account with a good 3-0 victory over IES 3's.

England
need double win to make semi-finals
Ipswich's Jo Ellis and
her England teammates have a hard task if they want to make
the semi-finals of the World cup. They play Germany today and
Spain on Thursday and know that they need to take 6 points
from tow very tough games. The good news is that Kate Walsh is
expected to play a part in the remaining cross-over games
after making a good come back from dislocating her knee cap.
