Ladies
1's back in action against leaders, as men face lowly Pelicans
The Ladies 1's
get back into league action with a tricky away game against unbeaten
league leaders Canterbury. While it will be a testing game for
the Suffolk side they are confident that they can get 3 points. The
Ladies 2's
who did so well against leaders Maidstone last weekend, face
2nd placed side Sevenoaks in what always proves to be a tough
game.
The
Men's 1's will be keen to
get back into action also as they face 2nd bottom side
Pelicans. Ipswich will be looking for a good win to keep them
top. The Men's 2's
will want to get back that wining feeling against local rivals
Bury St Edmunds who are 3 points ahead of them. The Ladies
3's will be looking to get a 2nd win in a row
against struggling Dereham 2's who have yet to win a game.
The Men's 3's face
mid-table students UEA and know that they really need the
points to get them out of relegation issues so early on. The Ladies
4's are still looking for their first win and face
Grasshopper 2's in what should be an even game. The Men's
4's need a win also and play mid-table Dunmow 2's.
The Men's 5's play
mid-table Redbridge & Ilford 3's and again
will want that elusive win. Finally the Men's
Vets have a weekend off.
A key
clash for the Ladies 1's as lower teams also need points.

In the
second of 2 practice games against Germany England bounced
back from a 3-0 loss to beat the Olympic Champions 5-0.
Ipswich's Cathy Gilliat-Smith scoring 1 of the 5 goals.
Unfortunately
in the only Official test game the Germans stepped up the
level to run out 2-0 victors.

Ladies
2's so near yet so far as men's game is postponed.
With
the Ladies 1's
not having a game all eyes focused on the Ladies 2's
who faced unbeaten league leaders Maidstone. In a great game
of hockey both sides worked tirelessly but it was the Suffolk
side that probably created the better chances. However with 4
mins to go Maidstone stole in to take the 3 points.
The
Men's 1's game against Broxbourne
was postponed but the team still sit on top of the league 1
point clear of Bedford. The Men's 2's
also faced unbeaten league leaders in the shape of Bourne and
battled hard but could not stop the host's wining 3-1. The Ladies
3's played local rivals Bury 2's and ran out
2-1 winners to see them move up to 5th place in East Div 2 Central.
The Men's 3's took
on unbeaten Cambridge City
2's and fought hard but succumbed 3-1. The Ladies
4's played against Sudbury 4'sand lost 4-0. The Men's
4's lost 6-1 to the University of Essex and are
stuck at the bottom of the table. The Men's 5'sjust
could not get that all importnnat win either and went down 3-0
to Rochford Casual . Finally the Men's
Vets played Broadland but we are
awaiting the result.
A poor
weekend of results for all apart from the Ladies 3's.

Ladies
1's have rest weekend as Men aim for five star
The
Ladies 1's do not have a
game as the National League takes a break due to England and
Junior Commitments. They will resume next weekend away to
leaders Canterbury.
The
Men's 1's have a home
game against 5th placed Broxbourne and will want to keep up their
winning ways that sees them top of the league by 3 points. The
Ladies 2's have a tough
home game against unbeaten league leaders Maidstone but they
can field a strong squad and will be looking to upset the
odds. The Men's 2's
also face unbeaten league leaders in the shape of Bourne
however the team is in buoyant mood after defeating unbeaten
Havering last week. The Ladies
3's have a local Derby against Bury 2's and
with Bury still looking for their first win Ipswich will be
keen to grab the points. The Men's 3's
on the back of their first point face unbeaten Cambridge City
2's in another tough game. The Ladies
4's will be looking forward to playing a game
against Sudbury 4's and they will want 3 points. The Men's
4's are still searching for a point and could get their
first win over the University of Essex who also have no points..
The Men's 5's are also
without a win and face fellow strugglers Rochford Casual
in a game they desperately will want to win. Finally the Men's
Vets play Broadland in what is a typically tough
game.
Tough
games for the top teams but a real chance for the lower teams
to grab those vital first wins.

Tippen
looks forward to East challenge
Ipswich
1st team defender Amy Tippen will not be putting her feet up
during the enforced EHL break this weekend as she is part of
the East U17 squad that will take part in the Girls Regional
Tournament to be held at Millfield.
This
is 16 year old Tippen's last year with his age group and she
will be looking to finish higher than the 4th place they
attained last year.
We
wish Amy and all the East teams good luck.

Ladies
hit 10 goals in 2 weekend triumphs as Men also cruise to
victory.
The
Ladies 1's hit 6 goals
during Saturday's victory over Olton to see them secure their
first home win of the season and enable them to stay
within 3 points of early leaders Canterbury and Slough. On
Sunday they eased into the next round of the Cup with a solid
4-0 victory over Horsham.

Captain
Vic Sandall, Jo Ellis and
Cath
Gilliat-Smith enjoying the game at Horsham.
The
Men's 1's faced Bishop
Stortford and collected their 4th win in a row with a
3-1 victory. They are now 3 points clear at the top of the
table.
The
Ladies 2's faced Cambridge
City away and played out an exciting 3-3 draw. Giving City their
first point of the season.
The Men's 2's
had a great win over 2nd place Havering winning 4-3 to see
them get their season back on track.
The Ladies
3's faced a tough Brentwood side and even
though battling hard went down 2-0 The Men's 3's
picked up their first point with a draw against Peterborough Athletic. The Ladies
4's did not get a game due to confusion over the
location of the pitch for their away game. The hope is the
fixture can be replayed. The Men's
4's played Old De Ferrians 2's and could not find
that first win losing 4-2 The Men's 5's
played Marconi and lost 3-0. Finally the Men's
Vets played Bedford and won 5-3, apologies that
they were missed out of the preview but we did not have the fixture!
A
great weekend for the top teams and of course our super vets!

The
Men's 1's travel to Bishop
Stortford and aim to rack up their 4th win in a row and
keep themselves top of the table.
The
Ladies 2's face an interesting
fixture against pointless Cambridge City. City normally prove
a tough test for the Suffolk side and with ex-Ipswich players
Dawn Course and Sarah Juggins in the Cambridge side Ipswich
will be keen to take all 3 points.
The Men's 2's
looking to get back to winning ways play 2nd place Havering in
a tough contest.
The Ladies

build on their good win from last week. The Men's 3's
still looking for that all important win face Peterborough Athletic
and must start picking up points against teams around them. The Ladies
4's again looking for their first win face

Ladies
claim tight derby win as men hit 6
The
Ladies 1's enjoyed a successful
visit to Chelmer park on Saturday as they worked hard for a
1-0 victory over their Essex based rivals. It was the ideal
way for the Suffolk club to bounce back after last weeks
loss.
The
Men's 1st team continued
on their goal scoring spree, beating Dereham 6-1 to see
themselves as league leaders in the early stages of the season.
The
Ladies 2's took the first
points off Cambridge University with a 1-1 draw. The Men's 2's
lost out 2-1 to Old de Ferrians.
The Ladies
3's played local
rivals Carlton Park and ran out 3-2 winners, the winning goal
scored from a short corner after time. The Men's 3's
lost 5-3 to Norwich City 2's and along with fellow
Ipswich side IES are sitting rock bottom of the table. The Ladies
4's battled hard against Sudbury 3's but went down
5-0 to the league leaders. The Men's
4's lost to Harlow 3-0. The Men's 5's
did not get another derby victory as they lost 5-1 to local rivals Chelmsford 5's
Finally the Men's
Vets played
Chelmsford and drew 1-1.
A much
better weekend and some great wins but the Men's lower
sides will be looking to get some points on the board soon.

Ladies
face another derby clash as men face bottom side.
The
Ladies 1's
are itching to get back to winning ways against local Essex
rivals Chelmsford. With ex-Chelmsford player Cathy
Gilliat-Smith also returning to the club it will make for a
passionate game.
The
Men's 1st team will be
looking to add to their goal scoring spree as they tackle a
Dereham team that has conceded 13 goals in 2
games.
The
Ladies 2's will be
pleased to get a regular GK back this weekend as they face
unbeaten Cambridge University. The Men's 2's
face Old de Ferrians and will be aiming to take all 3 points
off a side yet to win.
The Ladies
3's buoyed by a good win last weekend face local
rivals Carlton Park. Despite Park not having a win this
will be a close game. The Men's 3's
are still searching for their first win in Div 2 N and hope to
get it against Norwich City 2's. The Ladies
4's after a good performance last weekend will be
upbeat when facing Sudbury 3's. The Men's
4's will face Harlow and would happily take a 1-0
victory. The Men's 5's
face local rivals Chelmsford 5's and look to be up against it
as tier opponents have scored 13 goals in 2 games. Finally the Men's
Vets play
Letchworth in the Vets Cup on Sunday.
Important
games for many teams as the season begins to take shape.

October 2004
Ladies
slip up to Slough. Men ride high in League but are out in Cup.
The
Ladies 1's
could not take the numerous chances they created
against a Slough side that knew were the goal was, as they
lost 4-2.
The
Men's 1st team, carried on
where they left off winning 8-2 against Blueharts. Disappointingly
they then lost 5-4 in Golden Goal to Old Whitgiftians in the Cup 2nd
round.
The
Ladies 2's without a
regular GK played Chelmsford 2's and despite hard work from
all the team they just could not cope with the positional changes
to the side. The Men's 2's
could not carry on their winning start losing 4-2 to Long
Sutton.
The Ladies
3's bounced back from last weeks loss with a
2-1 win over UEA and recorded the only Ladies win of the
weekend. The Men's 3's
went down 6-2 to a high scoring Spalding side that had beaten IES 10-2 last
weekend . The Ladies
4's lost 1-0 to a strong Haverhill 2's but played
very well indeed and have taken many positives from the game. The Men's
4's lost out 7-5 in a free scoring game v Waltham Forest. The Men's 5's
lost 3-0 to East London. Finally the Men's
Vets played
local rivals Harleston vets and went down 6-3.
A poor
weekend for the majority, the highlights being the men's 1's
and Ladies 3's.
