Ladies
1's aim to bounce back against Canterbury
The
1's keen to make amends for last weeks league result
face 5th placed Canterbury at home on Saturday. Ipswich
welcome back Kirsten Spencer and also hope that Jo
Ellis will be match fit.
The
2's also welcome back a key player in the shape of
Sarah Juggins as they travel to 3rd placed Folkestone. The
3's take on Long Sutton at home, with both teams level
on points this will be a game that neither will want to lose. The
4th's face 2nd placed Felixstowe and will need to be at
their best to get the points. After
last weeks disappointing results all teams will e looking to
get back to winning ways.

Men's
1's back in Double header weekend action.
The
1's had a weekend off last week but are back in
the thick of the action with 2 very important games. On Saturday
they face leaders Crostyx, unbeaten in the league Croystx will
prove difficult opponents but Ipswich have already beaten the
Essex side in the Cup and know that they have the ability to
do so again. A win is a must if Ipswich aim to keep in touch
with the top of the table. On Sunday the squad travels to
Cambridge to take on the Students in the EHL Cup. The students
are 2nd in the league and will again prove to be very
difficult opposition.
The
2's will be looking to climb out of relegation danger
with a win against mid-table Wisbech. A win here would see them
leap frog the Cambridgeshire side. The
3's on the back of the clubs only win last weekend take
on bottom of the table Romford and will want 3 points to keep
them in the promotion hunt. The
4's face Saffron Walden 2's who are unbeaten and joint
top of the table. The
5's face Saffron Walden 3's and will want to claim
their first points of the season. The
vets travel to Pelicans. 2
very big games for the 1's. The rest of the club will also be
looking to get the winning feeling

Ipswich
get tough cup draw in 3rd round.
Ipswich's
reward for being the highest scorers in round 2 is a tricky
away tie in Southampton versus Div 1 leaders Trojans.
Trojans
will fancy their chances after dumping out last years winners Canterbury
in the 2nd round but could be without their key player and England
star Alex Danson, who is a hopeful to make the Champions
Challenge squad.
The
last time the two sides met in the Premier League last year
the game ended in a 2-2 draw.

Ipswich
players star in East teams.
George
Pinner and Tom Parry both of Ipswich Hockey Club
represented the East at the U17 Regional Tournament in Manchester
this weekend. The team finished in a very respectable 3rd
place losing out on 2nd to the South West by virtue of goal
difference.
George
is the regular 2nd team keeper, while Tom has recently been
playing for the 1's. Both have huge amounts of potential with
George already been selected for Junior England honours

Ladies
1's taste derby defeat and Cup joy.
The
1's suffered a 6-1 defeat to local rivals Chelmsford. Despite
creating several clear chances Ipswich could not convert and a
makeshift defence even though playing well had no answer to England
striker Lisa Wooding's penalty Corner strikes. Sunday
saw the team re-group and hammer 11-0 goals past Hampstead
and Westminster in the 2nd round of the Cup. The
highlight Sarah Bamfield scoring 6.
The
2's missing key players could not contain a confident
Uni team and went down 8-1 to the students of Cambridge. The 3's too
were missing usual players due to 2nd team call ups and also
suffered an 8-1 defeat to local rivals IES. The
4's with only 9 players battled well but went
down 5-2 to Castaway 2's. The
main highlight of the weekend was the 11-0 Cup win. Hopefully
with half term over availability will return to normal and teams
will be fielding full strength sides on Saturday.

Men's
2's downed by leaders.
The
1's had a weekend off.
The
2's took on leaders Pelicans and almost got a point
but it was not to be and they now have slipped into the
relegation zone. The
3's claimed the only win out of the entire club with a
4-2 victory over IES 2nd's. They know sit in 3rd place in Div
3 SE 2 points off a promotion place. The
4's tackled Colchester 2's and went down 2-1 in a very
close game. The
5's are still waiting for that first win, going down
2-0 to Romford 2's. The
vets waiting for result. Again
another disappointing weekend in terms of results with only
the 3's giving us any points.

Ladies
1's back in double header weekend
The
1's get back into league action this weekend against
local rivals and league leaders Chelmsford. Then on Sunday
they welcome South Div 1 side Hampstead and Westminster in the
Cup 2nd round. Both games will provide different challenges
but something out of them both is the objective.
The
2's full of confidence after last weeks win tackle Cambridge
Uni away and will not want to let the students leapfrog them
in the league table. The 3's too have a local
derby taking on IES at home. With some good results under their
belt this should be a close match as usual. The
4's need 3 points against the pointless Castaway
2nd's if they wish to get into the top part of the table. Finally
after much deliberation we have been forced to withdraw the 5's
from the league. Despite an influx of new Juniors regular
availability of players has become an increasing problem to us
and we felt the right decision was to withdraw the team from
the league. Apologies to Suffolk and all teams. The
1's will be looking for double joy this weekend and two good
results would help lift the club after the disappointment of
losing the 5th team.

1's crash to west Herts
The
1's have a weekend off and will play Harleston on a
slip dater later in the season.
The
2's face table toppers Pelicans and will need to
be at their best to get a win. The
3's face IES 2's and with their opponents only on 1
point they are favourites for 3 points. The
4's take on Colchester 2's who are just behind
them in the table and will know that they need a win to build
on last weeks good performance. The
5's are still without a point and face Romford 2's
and need to get into winning ways to move out of relegation
danger. The
vets tackle Broadland away and are looking for another
high scoring win. The
2's have a very hard match but are capable of getting the win.

Ladies
2's fight for first win
The
2's led the Ladies sides into action and set a fine example
by grinding out a 1-0 win against Crostyx. While not the
prettiest of games Ipswich knew what they wanted to achieve
and stuck at their task all match to claim their first 3
points of the season. The 3's despite playing well
lost out in an 8 goal thriller, going down 5-3 to a well
prepared Old Buckenham side that leaps frog them in the table. The
4's played well but again could not snatch all 3 points, and
played out a 1-1 draw against Grasshoppers. Finally
the 5's played Felixstowe 2's who were bottom of
the table. They lost 3-1 a score that did not reflect the
match and sees them 3rd from bottom. The
2's got a result at last but again the inconsistency of all
teams is making this a very unpredictable season so far.

Men's
1's crash to west Herts
The
1's knocked West Herts out of the Cup but could not
produce the same result in the league losing 3-2. Ipswich have
now slipped back to 6th place but are still just in touch with
leaders Crostyx.
The
2's travelled to Harleston and with both teams so
evenly matched on points it was no surprise that this game
turned out to be a 1-1 draw. The most surprising fact
being that both goals came within 5 minutes of the end. The
3's got back to winning ways hammering 6 without reply
past Waltham Forest to take them up to 4th in the table only 3
points off 2nd place. The
4's put last weeks poor result behind them to grab
a 1-0 win over IES 3's. With the goal coming at the end of the
match with only seconds to spare it was a real smash and garb performance
against our old rivals. The
5's are still without a point and lost 5-0 to
Upminster 3's. Performances are looking promising though and
the score line looks rather flattering for the opposition. The
vets won at a canter 7-2 against Bedford. Disappointing
slip up for the 1's but other results show that things could
be coming slowly together.

Ladies
1's have weekend off as 2's look for first win
The
1's have a weekend off so attention turns to the
2's who have had a quiet start to their season. The
play newly prompted Crostyx at home and know that a win is the
only result that is acceptable. The 3's on the back
of a great win travel to old Buckenham for a tough game but
will be looking for a point at least to keep them in the top
4. The
4's face Grasshoppers and will be wanting a win
against a team only 2 points behind them in the league. Finally
the 5's take on Felixstowe 2's who are bottom of
the table without a win. The
pressure is on the 2's this weekend to get a result and if
that happns then it is possible for a clean sweep of wins
in he ladies section.

Men's
1's aim to keep winning run going.
The
1's take on West Herts at home and after knocking
them out of the Cup in the 1stround Ipswich will be looking
for 3 points.
The
2's on the back of their first win face Harleston
Magpies 2's. Both teams are on 1 win each so this should be a
close game. The
3's wanting to get back to winning ways play Waltham
Forest who are just behind them in the table. The
4's will want to forget last weeks hammering by
beating IES 3's who have yet to claim any points. The
5's too suffered a heavy defeat and will want to
get their first points on the board against mid table
Upminster 3's The
vets play Bedford away and will be looking for another
high scoring win.

Men
forced to withdraw 6th team from League
After
fighting against the odds of not having a full time captain
and not being able to select from regularly available players the
6th's have finally had to succumb and pull themselves out off
the league.
This
is obviously a very disappointing decision but one that was
not taken lightly. The club would like to apologise to the
East League and to the opposition for the problems that this withdrawal
has caused.

Ladies
1's get first point at Olton
The
1's finally got their reward with a point away at
Olton. Kirsten Spencer firing home a short comer with 6
minutes left on the clock. The team have a week off and will
be looking to take that good performance into their next game
against local rivals and table toppers Chelmsford. The
2's had another poor weekend going down 3-0 to Bury
after having the majority of the possession but non of the
composure in the circle. The 3's played Carlton Park
and came out 4-2 winners. the surprise player of the day was
ex-1st team player and coach Helen Bray, who scored 2
goals for he Ipswich team. The
4's took revenge for the 5's last weekend as they
beat Sudbury Tigers 4-2. Finally
the 5's had to cancel their game against Castaways
as a large amount of the junior players had school commitments. A
much better weekend especially for the 1's, just the 2's that
need to start getting into winning ways.

Men's
1's claim weekend double.
The
1's despatched Peterborough 3-1 on Saturday and then
travelled to Croystx on Sunday to beat them 4-2 in the Cup to
cap a great weekend.
The
2's at last got 3 points against Peterborough 2's with
new German player Benny getting a hat trick. The
3's almost upset unbeaten Southend but went down 3-2 The
4's got a shock after last weeks win getting
hammered 12-0 by East London. The
5's also took a bit of a hammering losing 7-1 to
Ford 2's who claimed their first 3 points of the season. The
6's have again disappointingly cancelled their game and
a decision will be made shortly regarding their future. The
vets destroyed local rivals Chelmsford 8-2 Great
performances for the Men's 1's and nice to see the 2's in the
points at last.

Ladies
1's need to turn good performance into points
The
1's even though disappointed with last weeks loss
know that they are getting better with each game. Taking their
chances is the key and against an Olton side hammered 5-1 by
Slough last week they should at least get a few opportunities.
A point at least here would be a good result. The
2's take on local rivals Bury St Edmunds and know that
they will have to play to their potential to get 3 points. A
win though would be a real boost and could get their season
back on track. The 3's face another local team Carlton
Park and will be in for a hard game. The
4's face the 5th's vanquishers from last weekend
Sudbury Talbots and will want to get revenge. Finally
the 5's tackle castaways and should be looking for
all 3 points. A
better weekend all round is hoped for, with the ones hopefully
starting the trend.

Men's
1's aim to bring down ex-national League club and progress in
Cup
The
1's will be looking to get 3 points against former
National League Club Peterborough, especially considering that
they have yet to get a point. On Sunday the team travels to
Croystx for a 2nd round Cup match. A win here could see them
play a National League team in round 3.
The
2's still to get a point play Peterborough 2's at home
and like the 1's will be looking for a win.
The
3's have a hard match against unbeaten Southend but
with 4 points from 2 games they will be fancying there chances
too. The
4's face unbeaten East London but with the only win
in the club last week they are the inform team. The
5's will be looking to get 3 points against Ford 2's.
both teams are on zero points so a win would be a real tonic. The
6's have again disappointingly cancelled their game and
a decision will be made shortly regarding their future. The
vets have a very busy weekend playing Chelmsford at
Home on Saturday then taking on West Herts in the Cup on
Sunday. With
2 games in a weekend the Men's 1's will be looking for two
good performances and result.

Ladies
1's miss out again, as no Ladies team wins.
The
1's welcomed back Jo Ellis and as if to let her
Club know what they have been missing she promptly scored from
a well worked short corner. However Ipswich could not close the
game out and even though they had the better chances saw 3
points go begging again. Next weekend is a hard away game v Olton
and the team must start getting the points. The
2's could not contain a experienced city side and went
down 4-1. More bad news is that Amanda Little will be out for
at least 3 weeks with a torn hep Flex. The 3's could
not repeat last weeks stunning performance and crashed 5-2 to
a good Norwich City side. The
4's using a stand in GK lost 4-1 to Sudbury Talbots
and will need to get back to winning ways soon to stay with
the league leaders. Finally
the 5's also lost to a Sudbury team, this time the
Tigers 5-0. A young side had no reply for the experience of
the Sudbury tams. A
very poor weekend by our standards and one that needs to be
out behind us as we move on. All teams have the potential to
get 3 points and next weekend we will need to show it.

Men's
4's get only win.
The
1's took on Cambridge city and were edged out 2-, the
only good news being that rivals also lost so they have not
lost too much ground in the title race.
The
2's were so close against Brentwood but went down 3-2
and are still looking for their first points.
The
3's built on last weeks great result and ground out a
2-2 draw with Brentwood 2's to maintain and unbeaten record. The
4's got the only win out of the entire club, a 1-0
victory over Harlow and showed they have bounced back from their
opening day loss. The
5's playing their first match of the season went down
2-0 to Old Deferrins 2's. The
6's have yet again had to cancel their game and they
will need to get their act together very soon. The
vets almost got a point against rivals Harleston but
eventually lost 2-1 in an entertaining game. A
bit better for the Men than the Ladies but still a poor
showing. Next weekend needs to see a return to winning ways
for the majority of teams.

Ladies
1's look for home win as 2's face Cambridge test
The
1's take on Clifton at home and welcome back England
stars Jo Ellis and Leisa King into the squad.
The only injury problems are King who will undergo a late
fitness test after straining her knee at GB training
mid-week and Sarah Bamfield who twisted an ankle at the weekend.
Both teams will be looking for their first points of the
season on Saturday and Ipswich will be keen to build on their
promising performance at Doncaster The
2's travel to Cambridge City fully aware that they will
need to be at their best to take 3 points. Always an exciting
game Ipswich will be boosted by the inclusion of Sophie
Sheldrake and Mille Sharp and will be looking for
at least a point. The
3's play another Norwich side at home in the shape of Norwich
City and will be aiming for the same winning result as the got
last weekend against the students to keep them top of the
table. The
4's take on Sudbury Talbot's knowing that a win would
see them keep pace with the promotion hopefuls and move 3 points
clear of their opponents. Finally
the 5's take on Sudbury Tigers and will want to get
back to winning ways with their young side.

Men's
1's eye 3 points at Cambridge
The
1's travel to Cambridge to take on a City team that
will also have thoughts of automatic promotion. Defence is the
watch word for the team this week and if they can keep the
hosts out their is little doubt that Ipswich can score at the
other end and take maximum points.
The
2's will be keen to get a win against Brentwood, who
managed a point last weekend.
The
3's take on Brentwood 2's and after their great win last
week will be looking to take another 3 points against a side
that lost last weekend.
The
4's not happy after their large loss last weekend will want to get
maximum points against Harlow. The
5's take on Old DeFerrians 2's and with both teams
having not played a league match it should be a close affair. The
6's have yet again had to cancel their game and they
will need to get their act together very soon. The
vets play rivals Harleston away and will be looking
forward to the usual tough encounter.
