Men
finish on a high, as Women slip up in league but make Cup
Quarter Finals.
The Women's 1's lost
3-1 to league leaders Slough on Saturday but the score line
does not reflect a game were Ipswich had the majority of possession
and chances. The team go into the Indoor break sitting in 5th
place in the league and knowing that they are building a great
foundation for success in years to come. On Sunday a heavily depleted
team missing 6 regular players travelled to Div 1
leaders Sunderland for a 4th round Cup game. The new look
Ipswich won 3-1 and did the club proud with a great team
display, highlighting the chasm in class between the top of
Div 1 and the Premier League. The team now play Slough
away on 24th February for a semi final place. The Women 2's got
their first point since October with a 3-3 draw against 8th placed Bromley & Beckenham in their
NE14HOCKEY Prem League
game. The Women
3's drew 1-1 with Cambridge University 2's. The
4's
beat East Bergholt 4-1 to continue their climb up the Suffolk Premier
League table. The 5's game
against Bury St Edmunds 3's was postponed due to a frozen
pitch.
The
Men 1's
beat Welsh side Whitchurch 3-2 to see them finish the first
part of the season in good style. Ipswich are now in 7th place
a welcome 8 points away from relegation danger . The Men's 2's
lost to a good Bluehearts 4-1. The Men's
3's thrashed Norwich
City 2's 6-1 to keep the pressure on leaders St Ives. The 4's bounced
backed with a good 3-0 win over Watton to remain top of NE14HOCKEY
East Div4NE. The 5's beat
local rivals IES 3's 2-1 The Vets
game against Bury was moved to sat 15th December but beat Trojans
3-0 in the Vintage Cup to move into the 3rd round.
The
Junior teams are also in action this weekend. The U18
Girls lost via penalty strokes in
a thrilling game against Harleston Magpies. The score ended
2-2 after extra time and unfortunately after some controversial
umpiring during the stroke competition Harleston won 2-1. The U15
Boys travelled with 9 players due
to England trails but still had enough quality to beat Norwich City.

Women
and men aim to go into Xmas on a winning note.
The Women's 1's
play league leaders Slough at Tuddenham Road on Saturday and
will want to put in a good performance in their last game
before the break for Indoor. Then on Sunday they head up to
Sunderland for a 4th round Cup game. Sunderland sit op of Div
1 and will prove stern test for a depleted Ipswich team. The Women 2's face
8th placed Bromley & Beckenham in their E14HOCKEY Prem League
game. The Women
3's face Cambridge University 2's
who are only 2 places behind them. The
4's
will want another win after last weeks good performance and
take on East Bergholt.
The 5's face
Bury St Edmunds 3's and really need to pick up some points.
The
Men 1's
also play their last game before Christmas, they face Welsh side
Whitchurch. A win would see the Men in a comfortable position
mid table and set them up for a good 2008. The Men's 2's
face a Bluehearts team only 1 place and 1 point behind them
and they will need to produce another good team performance. The Men's
3's will look to bounce back
after last weeks loss with a win against mid table Norwich
City 2's. The 4's lost
their 100% record but will want to get back to winning ways
quickly with a good display against mid table Watton. The 5's swing
back into action with a derby game against IES 3's.
The Vets
game against Bury has been moved to sat 15th December but they
have a Vintage Cup game away at Trojans on Sunday to keep them
occupied!
The
Junior teams are also in action this weekend. The U18
Girls travel to local rivals
Harleston Magpies for a testing game. The U15
Boys also have an away game, they
play Norwich City.

Men
have ups and downs as Women take point as comeback falls
short.
The Men 1's
won the honours over the students beating beat Cambridge
University 1-0 on Saturday in a vital game that has given them
some breathing space above the relegation zone. Sunday however
saw the team lose 3-1 to a Bromley & Beckenham, side that
they would have been expected to beat. They now sit in
7th place, 5 points above the dreaded relegation spots. The Men's 2's
traveled with a depleted team but out in a great performance
to draw 3-3 with Broxbourne. The Men's
3's lost their top of the table clash
against leaders St Ives 3-2. The 4's lost
their 100% record with a 4-4 against Cranes but remain top of
the table.. The 5's had
a weekend off.
The Vets
hit 10 past Busy St Edmunds in a vintage display.
The Women's 1's fought
back from 3-0 down to draw 3-3 with Poynton but will be disappointed
not to have taken the win. The team drop to 6th place but are
still within 1 point of 4th place. The Women 2's
strayed bottom of the E14HOCKEY Prem League after losing 6-1
against unbeaten leaders Holcombe. The Women
3's though beat Welwyn Garden
City 2-1, a great win for the young team. The
4's
won 4-0s against Christchurch and moved away from the
relegation zone.
The 5's
though lost 4-0 to Christchurch 2's.

Men
face crucial games as Women face tough away game at Poynton
The Men 1's
have two must win games this weekend. On Saturday they take
on 2nd bottom side Cambridge University. Having beaten
the students 3-2 in the league Ipswich then lost by the same
score in the Cup so this looks likely to be a very close game.
With Ipswich only 4 points above the relegation play-off zone
they know they cannot afford any slip ups. On Sunday the team
travel to 9th placed Bromley & Beckenham, Ipswich lost the
first meeting 3-1 but Bromley have only won 1 game since then
and Ipswich will be keen to gain revenge. 2 wins this weekend,
whilst not making Ipswich safe from relegation would certainly
put them in the a good situation at the half way point. The Men's 2's
will want to continue their inning run against mid table
Broxbourne.The Men's
3's face a top of the table clash
against leaders St Ives, knowing a win would send them top. The 4's
can seem to do no wrong and will look to maintain their 100%
record with a win over struggling Cranes. The 5's have
a weekend off.
The Vets
swing back into action with a derby game v Busy St Edmunds.
The Women's 1's will
be keen to hold onto 4th place as they face 2nd bottom side
Poynton. Missing Jenny Hall will be a big blow to the squad
but if they play team hockey they should be more than capable
of beating Poynton for the second time this season, having
already secured a 2-1 win at home. The Women 2's
are plum bottom of the NE14HOCKEY Prem League and face a
really hard game against unbeaten leaders Holcombe. The Women
3's will be keen to get back to
winning ways as they play Welwyn Garden City. The
4's
are dangerously close to the relegation zone and will want
some points against Christchurch.
The 5's
play Christchurch 2's and also need a win.

Men
hammer 8 in past Teddington, while Women beat Canterbury but
lose to Chelmsford
The Women's 1st Team
leapfrogged Canterbury into 4th place with a good 2-0 victory
on Saturday but then undid some of that good work with a 2-1
loss to Chelmsford on Sunday. The Women 2's
remain bottom of the NE14HOCKEY Prem League with a 4-1 loss to
old Loughtonians 2's. The 2's created more chances than their Essex
visitors but are struggling to take their chances. The Women

4's
also lost to 2nd placed Carlton Park 4-1.
The 5's
mirrored that score line with a 4-1 loss Haverhill 2's.
The Men 1's
at time made hard work of beating bottom
side Teddington but were the better side and deserved thier

had a great weekend winning 4-0 against Wapping then winning
32- against Telford in their first ever second
team cup game. The Men's

also face a tough test as they play 2nd placed Carlton Park.

they play Haverhill 2's.
The Men 1's
play only their second home game of the season and will be
keen to get the win in a massive 6 point game against bottom
side Teddington. With the Women 1's playing before them a
large a vocal crowd is expected. The Men's 2's
will be hoping Goal keeper Tony Burch has recovered from his
concussion as they play 2 games. Saturday sees them face
Wapping then on Sunday they travel to Telford for a second
team cup game. The Men's
3's face mid table Spalding
and will be looking for another good win.
The 4's
are clear at the top of theNE14HOCKEY Div 4NE table and
will want to stay there with a good win over 5th placed
Norwich Union 3's. The 5's play
