1's
have winning weekends as things start to click.
The Men's
1's inflicted only the 2nd defeat of the season on Indian Gymkhana
but it was the manner of their 6-3 victory that was so
impressive, 6-1 up at half time, this team have the real
talent to beat any team in this league. The 2's destroyed
Cambridge Uni 2's 6-0 and only goal difference has kept them
out of a play off spot. The 3's have now not
played for 3 consecutive weekends as Watton conceded the game. The 4's
lost 5-3 to Norwich City 4's and will be disappointed not to
get a win. The Vets beat Bedford 5-3 to continue with
tier good form.
The
Women's 1's matched the Men by also beating 2nd placed Canterbury
not quite the same scoreline but the 3-2 victory does not reflect
how dominant Ipswich were in this game. The
Women's 2's lost to league leaders Sudbury 1-0 but were
pleased with the team performance and know that they could
have had a point. The 3's slipped to a 3-2 loss
to Harleston 3's. The 4's lost 2-1 to Haverhill 2's and will be
disappointed as they needed the win to move them within
striking distance of a promotion place.
A great
weekend for the 1's and the majority of the men's teams but
not so good for the Women's club sides who will be looking to
get back to winning ways next weekend.

Tough
tests for 1's as both play 2nd placed teams.
The Men's
1's face a difficult away game to Indian Gymkhana fully
ware that their hosts have only lost once. The 2's pushing
for a promotion spot play 3rd from bottom side Cambridge Uni
2's.The 3's will be desperate to play after
missing out on the last 2 games and they welcome bottom team
Watton to Henley Road. The 4's
play Norwich City4's who are 3 points below them. The Vets who
managed to beat the weather last weekend play Bedford away.
The
Women's 1's welcome 2nd placed Canterbury and know
that they need to put in a good performance and get some
points on the board. The
Women's 2's face table toppers and unbeaten Sudbury, with
several ex-Ipswich players in the Sudbury side it should make
for a interesting game. The 3's will be looking
to bounce back against the bottom team Harleston 3's. The 4's
play 4th place Haverhill 2's and will be looking to close the
gap.
With
heavy snow forecast for Friday there are likely cancellations again
this week. Please keep an eye on the pitch and try to make a decision
early. Good luck.

Another
full weekend as teams look to beat the frost.
The
Women's 1's have another tricky game this weekend as
they travel to play reigning Champions and 2nd placed team Leicester.
A win is a must if the Suffolk side want to stay in touch with
a ply-off spot. The
Women's 2's will eb looking to grab another win against
Bourne who lie 3rd form bottom. The 3's face
local rivals IES on the back of 2 victories. A win would see
Ipswich level on points with IES.. The 4's face a
tough game against unbeaten Grasshoppers but with a 10am start
frost looks like the winner at present!
The Men's
1's have a busy weekend, welcoming 3rd placed Whitchurch
to Tud Rd on Saturday and then Div 1 top 2 side
Southgate in the Cup on Sunday. The 2's face mid-table Redbridge
and Ilford and will want another win. The 3's will
be hoping for a game this weekend after last weeks opposition
cancelled but they to have a 10am game at Tud rd v Felixstowe
and frost is likely to cause problems. The 4's
play Harleston 6's and they are only 2 points ahead of their
Norfolk rivals so will want to claim the points.1. The Vets play
Bury St Edmunds.
Hopefully
the frost will not cause too many problems but I have a
feeling this could be the start of a long line of
cancellations!

1's
have mixed luck
The Men's
1's came home from Birmingham with a point but feel they
should have had all 3. They drop to 6th place in the table. The
Men's 2's dispatched West Herts 2's 5-2 to sit in 5th
place. The
3's saty in 3rd place after opponents UEA
cancelled the game, so Ipswich were awarded a 3-0 win. The 4's
lost out to mid table Norwich City 4's 3-1. The Vets cancelled
their Saturday game to reserve energy for their Sunday Cup
game, which seemed to do the trick as they ran out 7-4 winners
over Reigate Priory on Sunday in the Over 40's Cup.
The
Women's 1's lost 2-1 to Slough to drop to 6th place
and sees them 4 points off a play off spot. The
Women's 2's got back to winning ways and moved up to 4th
place with a 2-1 win over Braintree
at home. The 3's won again as they destroyed
Old Buckingham 4-1. The 4's slip to their first defeat losing
3-2 to East
Bergholt.

1's
look to keep on moving up.
The Men's
1's look to build on their great display last weekend as
they travel to Birmingham to take on the University. The
students sit 2 places and 1 point behind Ipswich in 7th place
but the Suffolk team are well aware the students will be a
tough test as they have only lost to the top 3 teams so far. The
Men's 2's play West Herts 2's and with only 2 places separating
them a win is a must. The
3's sit in 3rd place and face UEA who sit mid table.
A win is needed to keep them in touch with the promotion
spots. 3rd place. The 4's are back in league
action and face mid table Norwich City 4's. The Vets
have a busy weekend playing Colchester away on Saturday
and then having to travel to Reigate Priory on Sunday for the
2nd round of the Over 40's Cup.
The
Women's 1's look to build on their satisfying win
over Bowdon as they travel to Slough on Saturday. A win could catapult
them into 2nd place. Slough sit one place and 1 point
below Ipswich and both sides know how crucial this game could
be to their league title ambitions.
The
Women's 2's will be looking to bounce back as the face Braintree
at home . The Essex side sit 2 places off
the bottom of the table but Ipswich will not take the game
lightly. The 3's buoyed by their first win
of the season play Old Buckingham, who sit 3 points and 1
place above the Suffolk team.
The 4's
will look to continue their good winning run as they play East
Bergholt who are 1 place and 1 point below them.
A
vital weekend for both 1's as they look to continue pushing
towards the top of the table. Also vital games for the
other club teams as they look to either keep in touch with
leaders or fight their way up the table.

Big
weekend goes with a bang
The
Women's 1's had an almost perfect weekend, beating
Bowdon Hightown 2-0 on Saturday in the league, then hammering
Belper 11-0 in the Cup on Sunday. Despite the good win on sat,
Ipswich do not move up the league table as all teams above
them, bar Olton won. However they are now only 2 points behind
2nd place and play the 1st and 3rd placed teams in the next 3
weeks.
Photos
from the Cup game can be viewed here Photos
The
Women's 2's dropped 1 place to 5th on the back of a
2-1 loss to Norwich Union. The 3's grabbed their first
win of the season with a 2-1 victory over Great Yarmouth.
Ipswich stay in 8th pace but are only 3 points of 6th.
The 4's
moved up to 4th place with a 4-2 win over Carlton
Park 2's and have their sights set on the top 2.
The Men's
1's treated the sponsors and spectators to a great display
of attacking hockey as they beat Barford Tigers 5-2 to move up
to 5th place in the league. The Men's 2's shot
down unbeaten Pelicans 5-2 to stay within 3 points of 2nd place. The
3's played in the highest scoring game of the day
beating Dereham 2's 8-5 to move up to 3rd place. The 4's
and Vets
did not have a game so played a friendly against each
other, with the vet's winning 4-2.
A
Great weekend for the club and can we say a massive thank you
to, Seven, Karen Pickering, the Mayor of Ipswich and Don
Toply of Royal Hospital School for giving up their time to
support us.
Photos
from the day to follow soon.

Sponsor
day -Sunday 6th Nov
This Sunday will see Ipswich
officially launch their new sponsorship deal with local
company Seven and their new kit deal with Kukri
Sports. Seven’s
five-figure sponsor deal has made a huge impact on the Hockey
Club already and with Karen Pickering and Team Ipswich in the
news this week championing Suffolk Sport on a National level,
this financial support is vital to keep Ipswich at the top of
English Hockey.
Sunday will start with a
photo call for both teams, with representatives from Seven,
Karen Pickering from Team Ipswich, and the Mayor of
Ipswich all in attendance.
This will then be followed
at 12.00 by the Men’s English Hockey League’s South
Division game against Barford Tigers.
Then the finale of the day is at 14.00
when the Women play English Hockey League’s North Division
side Belper in the 4th round of the Cup.
Please can we appeal to as
many club members as possible to come along and support the
teams as well as General spectators
from the community, it should be a great day of hockey.
There
will be hot food and drink available.

BIG
weekend for the club
The
Women's 1's face a double header weekend knowing that the
pressure is on for 2 wins. On Saturday the team face Bowdon Hightown
and with only 1 point between the teams Ipswich know that they
cannot afford to slip up. Sunday sees them face EHL North Team
Belper in the 3rd round of the Cup. Both games are at home
14.00 start.
The
Women's 2's are up to 4th in the table and will want to
continue that ascent with a win against Norwich Union. The 3's are
still looking for their first win and face Great Yarmouth who
sit mid table.
The 4's
high on the back of their great win last week play a tough fixture
this week against the team one place above them in 4th place, Carlton
Park 2's.
The Men's
1's will be looking to get back into action and follow up
their first win in the league. They face a tricky game against
Barford Tigers. The Men's 2's face a tough game
against unbeaten Pelicans and will need to be in top form. The 3's
play Dereham 2's who are 4 points below them. The 4's
do not have a game as Watton 2's pulled out of the league. The Vets
also are having a weekend off after their double header
last week.
