Mixed
team look to end season with Title.
In their
first season together the Ipswich mixed side will be pleased
to have made the semi-finals of the National Mixed
Plate.
The
semi final takes place at Old Loughtonians on Sat 10th June
and Ipswich face Spencer Mixed from Battersea. Should they win
that they would face either Holcombe or Boots Mixed in
the final to be played on the Sunday.

Women
finish with a cracking draw but see play-off dreams die
Despite
a superb performance on Saturday Ipswich knew that they had
not done enough to make the end of season play-offs. A
4-4 draw with old rivals Slough and an Olton win meant that
for only the second time since their conception, Ipswich will
not be at the end of season finale. Ironically this years
play-offs will be the last as England Hockey has decided to
scrap them and reward performance in the league instead.
A
large crowd at Tuddenham Road was rewarded with one of the
most entertaining games of hockey all season. The game was
played at a frantic pace but some of the skill on show was top
class.
After
a 9 month season Ipswich will now at last enjoy a break from
hockey and then re-group in August as they prepare for the
2006-2007 season.

Women
have it all to do
After
2 disappointing results last weekend Ipswich know that their
play-off fate partly lies in others hands. While the Suffolk
team must beat Slough they also have to rely on Chelmsford
beating Olton, a seemingly unlikely outcome looking at the Essex
Clubs recent poor form. Chelmsford seemed to have struggled
since the arrival of their new coach, dropping out of play-off
contention and also yet to register a win under his guidance.
Whatever happens at Chelmer Park, Ipswich will want to
end their season on a high and beating Slough would go some
way to achieving that.
The
game starts at 12.00 @ Tuddenham Road and we need as many
people as possible to turn up and cheer the team on.

Women
drop 6 points but still have an outside chance.
Will
Champions Leicester were claming their second title in as many
years Ipswich were slipping down the Premiership table. The
Suffolk club dropped form 3rd place to 6th and have it all to
do next weekend. 2 defeats to Olton and Bowdon means that
Olton sit in 3rd place 2 points ahead of Bowdon, Slough and
Ipswich and have the upper hand as the fight for the last
play-off spot comes down to the final games this sat.
Ipswich
must beat Slough, who are also chasing the last spot and hope
that Chelmsford beat Olton. The Essex side though cannot make
the play-offs and Olton will be hot favourites to take the 3
points. Whatever happens though Ipswich will be keen to
end the season on a winning note and treat their loyal supporters
to some good hockey.

Vet's
and mixed do well
The
Vets were so close to capturing the national title at the
weekend but a draw in their last game was not quite enough.
The team were undefeated all weekend but 2 draws against OWLS
and eventual champions Kernow saints meant they had to settle
for the runners up spot. A great effort though and well
done to all involved.
The
mixed team faced defending Champions North Notts and with only
10 player, due tot he Women's 1's paying a league game they
looked to have their work cut out. However a great display saw
then run out 7-1 winners and make the semi-finals of the plate
competition in their first year of entering the
competition. The finals take place at Harleston Magpies on sat
10th and Sunday 11th June.

Women
face 2 tough away games
Ipswich
know that if they can repeat last weekends 2 wins then they
will be highly likely to cement their Super Cup Place.
Ipswich
face 4th placed Olton on sat and will need to reproduce the same
fighting spirit and passion they showed on Sunday if they want
to claim the win. Sunday sees them travel to Bowdon to
take on Hightown and again Ipswich will need to produce a good
display to take points off an in form team.
The
teams final game is v Slough on Sat 27th May 12.00 start at
Tuddenham Road.

Vet's
aim to reclaim title
The
last time the Vet's could call themselves National Champions
was back in 2000 but the current Ipswich team will be hoping
to claim a 4th title this year at East Grinsted.

Women's
National Veterans Champions 2000
This
year, the tournament will take place on Sunday 21 May and
Ipswich face a tough task with their first game against
defending Champions OWLS. However Ipswich have a very experienced
team that includes 3 players from the 1992 Olympic Bronze medal
winning GB Team (Sandie Lister, Vicky Dixon and Jo Thompson)
and they will be hoping for a good performance.

Women
move up to 3rd with 2 wins.
Ipswich
started from where they left off before Christmas and recorded
their 8th and 9th victory of the season. On Saturday they beat
Old Loughtonians 4-0 and then on Sunday enjoyed their 4-2
victory over Doncaster.

3
goals for Emma Lee-Smith
Both
wins saw them move up to 3rd place, 1 point behind Canterbury
in second place and 2 points ahead of next weekend opponents
Olton. With only the top 3 teams qualifying for the
Super Cup Ipswich know that they need 2 good results next
weekend to ensure they make the end of season finale for the
second year in a row.

Women
aim for Super Cup finale
After
a 5 month break and 1 week after celebrating the end of season
dinner(!) the Women's 1's get back into Premier League action,
with 2 vital games this weekend.
Ipswich
face 2 teams battling with relegation issues and the home team
will be looking to take maximum points if they want to keep their
super Cup dream alive.
Only 1
point separates Ipswich in 6th place and Olton in 2nd and with
5 teams battling it out for 3 places, someone will have to
lose out.
On sat
Ipswich face Old Loughtonians at home (14.00 at Tuddenham
Road) and will be looking for a repeat of their 4-1 victory
early on in the season. Then on Sunday Ipswich travel up to
Doncaster and after playing badly and losing out in the Cup
Quarter finals back in March Ipswich will be keen to prove a
point in this league game.
With
3rd placed Canterbury playing 4th placed Slough and 5th
Chelmsford playing 1st placed Leicester on the Saturday and
then Chelmsford playing Canterbury on the Sunday, Ipswich know
that 6 points from the weekend could really see them rocket up
the table.
