4
Ipswich players dominate England Women's squad v Scotland
Cathy
Gilliat-Smith, Jo Ellis, Leisa King and Becky Duggan have
all been selected for the forthcoming training camp and test
matches versus Scotland in Belle Vue, Manchester this weekend.
With 4 players in the squad Ipswich are by far the most dominate
club in the team. Probably the surprise of the team though is
Hightown's player-coach Tina Cullen who has come out of retirement.

U18
Girls make history as first team to retain U18 crown.
After a
great game of end to end hockey that ended 2-2 Ipswich and
local rivals Chelmsford faced each other in a nerve wracking
penalty stroke competition. Ipswich led by Captain Charlie
Anderson held their nerve and 2 fantastic saves by Chole
Musgarve saw the Suffolk Team defend the title they had won last
year. That makes them the first U18 side to retain the
title. Congratulations to all the team and a special
thanks to Coach Vic Sandall and Manger Jo Gray. This is Jo's
last year at the the club as she has sadly decided to hang up
her hockey stick, therefore it was a very special win and great
memory for her.

U18
Girls look to make history for 2nd year running
After
claiming Ipswich's first ever Junior national title last season
the U18 girls are looking to claim another bit of National and
Club history this weekend as they face local rivals Chelmsford
in the final of the U18 Plate. An Ipswich victory would
see them be the first team to retain the title , e a fitting
tribute to many of the older players who will be leaving the
club for University at the end of the summer.
The game
will be played on Sunday 15th May @ Bowdon hockey Club starting
at 10am.
Good
luck girls!

Summer
League round-up
Men's
Div 1
With the
first round of games played the division looks wide open, with
Ipswich Sports Club 2's and Felixstowe Men 1's leading the table. There
is also no shortage of goals with Ipswich and Bury drawing 6-6
and Cranes and Felixstowe 2's drawing 5-5.
Women's
Div 1 IES
lead the way in this league with 2 wins out of 2, from holders Sudbury and
Ipswich 1's. IES first game v Christchurch was won 3-1
Penalty Stroke taken by Wheelie of IESHC, great take for the
birthday girl. Sam Brown scored the other 2 goals for IES .
Ipswich won their first game 5-3 v Sudbury and excellent result
for a young team (with a few oldies thrown in). Alice
Christianson was chief poacher getting two brave goals. Then
Hannah Golding slammed the backboards with a powerful follow up
on her own shot. Vic Sandall, after a particularly neat bit of
skill in the 'D' to create space, undercut the ball top left and
finally Karla Waddleton with an exceptional strike from a short
corner made it 5. Women's
Div 2 Carlton
park lead the way in Div 2 with 2 wins out of 2 v Castaway and
Grasshopper Ladies. They are being chased by Hadleigh who have
won 1 and drawn one.

Ladies
1's suffer Super Cup disappointment but can reflect on season
with pride.
The Ladies
1's ended a long hard season with a disappointing
4th place at the Super Cup in Guilford over the bank holiday
weekend. Despite the unhappiness at the final placing the team
can take heart from a great last performance against Leicester
that they were very unlucky not to get something out of.
With the
season over the team can now begin to reflect on a amazing year
and the unbelievable progression from bottom of the league to
runners up in such a short space of time. With a runners up spot
also in the Indoor League and play-offs their is a huge amount
of potential in this Ipswich side and after a short break the
squad will be meeting up to plan the next step in their
progression.
