1's
battle for draws that secure Elite future.
The
Women 1's
came back form Chelmsford with a point and while it was not
the win they wanted it was enough to guarantee them
Premiership hockey next season. Chelmsford must avoid defeat
against Poynton next weekend or else they will be in the dread
relegation play-offs. It has been a tough second half of the season
for Ipswich and their coach Royce waters, as they have
been hit by several injuries, a pregnancy and unavailability
due to work commitments but the entire squad have battled hard
and they fully deserve their place in the Premier League next season.

The Women
2's lost 4-1 against Cambridge University
in their last league game and face next season in Div 1 of the
East Leagues. It has been a nard season for the 2's who have
been severely effected by call ups from the 1's. The 3's
lost 5-0 to Cambridge Ladies but finish their league
season in a very respectable
4th place. The 4's finished their
first season in Suffolk Premier by beating Castaways 1-0 and
they finish in 7th place. The 5's
lost to Mildenhall 3-0.
The
Men's 1's
gained a well earned point in a 3-3 draw against Firebrands team
and like the Women did enough to secure a National League
place for next season. With the leagues being restructured
this is as good as a promotion for Ipswich who will next
season play in the league just below Premier. A
fantastic achievement for the team and coach Iain Gall. The Men's 2's
recorded a 4-4 draw with Bishop Stortford. The 3's
beat Bedford 2's 4-0 but will need a big win next week to take
2nd place. The 4's
drew 3-3 with 2nd placed UEA 2's with the last hit of the game
and now only need a win next week to secure promotion. The already promoted 5's played a
friendly against Harlow 2's. The
Vets
beat Bishop Stortford 2-0 on Saturday and then stored into their
first national Final with a 4-2 win over Cambridge city on
Sunday. They will play Indian Gymkhana on the 4th of May at
Old Loughtonians for the Vintage Cup.

1's
both need wins as season goes to the wire.
The
Women 1's
make the short journey down the A12 to play Chelmsford on Saturday
knowing that a win will be enough to retain Premier League
hockey for next season. With Chelmsford only 1 point behind
the Suffolk side this is a game neither can afford to
lose. The Women
2's finish their season with a
home game against Cambridge University and will want to end on
a high as they face relegation to Division 1. The 3's
play Cambridge Ladies and should finish in a very respectable
4th place. The 4's also
finish their season this weekend by playing Castaways and a
win could see them finish in a very respectable 6th place in their
first year in Suffolk Prem. The 5's
play Mildenhall and have 2 games
to move off the bottom of the table.
The
Men's 1's
need 1 more point to retain their National League status as
they welcome a Firebrands team who are level on points with
them to Tuddenham Road. The Men's 2's
will be keen to get back to winning ways against a struggling
Bishop Stortford team . The 3's
have 2 games left a know a win against Bedford 2's will keep
them in the running for promotion. The 4's
play 2nd placed UEA 2's and a win will secure the East Div4 NE
title. The already promoted 5's are
still chasing the league title and will need a high scoring
win over Harlow 2's to give themselves a chance. The
Vets
face a massive weekend see news below.

Busy
weekend for Vets
The
Men's Vets
face one of the biggest weekends in their long and proud
history. On Saturday they play Bishops Stortford in the East league
and know that a win would put them only 2 points away from retaining
their title, then on Sunday they travel to Cambridge City for
the Over 45's Cup Semi-finals. A win for the Suffolk
club would see them into the final for the first time to face
either Harleston or favourites East Grinsted. The Women Vets
are also in action as they play IES for a place in the East
Round on 6th April. There are some familiar ex-1st
team faces appearing for Ipswich and it will be pleasing to
see Annette strange, Jo Thompson Sarah Bamfield and Nicky
Osborne pulling on an Ipswich shirt again.

1's
have mixed weekend as Vets romp into another semi-final
The
Men's 1's
lost 3-0 to 3rd placed Holcombe but probably had the better of
possession with only the finishing of ex-England players David
Matthews the difference between the teams . The Men's 2's
lost Broxbourne in what is normally a close game. The 3's
also lost 4-2 against leaders St Ives and will now battle it
out for the second promotion spot. The 4's
also lost 3-2 to local rivals Cranes but stay 2 points clear
at the top of East Div4 NE. The already promoted 5's won
3-1 against Bury St Edmunds 5's and sit top of the
table. The
Vets
beat Bury St Edmunds 5-0 then thrashed Stourport 9-1 to romp
into the semi-Finals of the Vintage
Cup. They now face Plymouth Marjon at home on Sunday 6th
April.
The
Women 1's
drew 1-1 with Old Loughtonians in a disappointing game and now
that they need to get back to winning ways as the season draws
to an end. The Women
2's lost 6-3 to Champions Holcombe and
have only 5 games left to save themselves from relegation. The 3's
lost 4-2 to second placed Welwyn Garden City. The 4's
also lost 4-2 this time to Christchurch with the 5's
losing 3-1 to Christchurch 2's.

1's
aim to recapture winning form as Vets look to make second
semi-final
The
Men's 1's
welcome 3rd placed Holcombe to Tuddenham Road knowing that a
win would almost guaranteed them National League hockey next
season. Having lost 6-0 to Holcombe earlier on the team
are keen to show they have progressed. The Men's 2's
face Broxbourne in what is normally a close game. The 3's
take on leaders St Ives and will need a win if they want to
give themselves a chance at the title. The 4's
take on local rivals Cranes and will be aiming for a win. The already promoted 5's continue
their campaign for the title with a game against Bury St Edmunds
5's. The
Vets
play Colchester in the East league on Saturday and then
welcome Stourport to Henley Road for a Quarter final Vintage
Cup clash.
The
Women 1's
welcome bottom of the table Old Loughtonians and will be
looking to repeat their 5-1 win the last times the teams met.
With only 4 games to go neither side can afford to drop points
so this will be a tense battle. The Women
2's face Champions Holcombe and
know that they really need a win to give themselves a chance
to avoid the drop. The 3's
face second Welwyn Garden City in another tough game. The 4's
play Christchurch as the 5's
take on Christchurch 2's.
The
U18 Girls
and U15 Boys
travel to Old Loughtonians on Sunday to play their Essex rivals

1's
slip to worrying defeats but Men's Vets master strokes to
make Semi-finals
The
Women 1's
failed to score for only the second time this season and paid
the price as they lost 1-0 to Clifton. Despite several players
not being fully fit Ipswich will feel they should have taken something
from this game. Ipswich now have only 4 games left and know
that they need to rediscover wining ways. The Women
2's lost 4-2 to Old Loughtonians
2's on Saturday and are now 3 points from safety with only 3
games to go. The 3's
put up a brave fight but lost 2-1 to unbeaten leaders Saffron Walden. The 4's
were beaten 6-0 by Suffolk Premier league leaders Carlton Park
, while the 5's
also lost 6-0 to Haverhill 2's, rounding off a very disappointing
weekend for the Women's teams.
The
Men's 1's
lost 6-1 to Whitchurch and despite missing several key player,
will be very disappointed with the result. The Men's 2's
worked hard to get a 3-3 draw
against Wapping. The 3's
beat Spalding 3-2 and keep themselves on track for promotion. The 4's
also keep on track for promotion
beating Norwich Union 3's 2-1. The already promoted 5's whipped
Norwich city 6's 8-0. The
Vets made
the Semi-finals of the vintage Cup for the first time in their
history beating Isca on penalty strikes after the game ended
2-2. They can do the double in the Veterans competition
next weekend as they face Stourport for a place in that
semi-final.
