Ladies snatch last play off spot in close finish

The 1st team might not have got the result they wanted from the match but a 2-2 draw did not stop them from taking the final play-off spot at the expense of rivals Chelmsford and Leicester. Ipswich looked out of the running two weeks ago but seemed to have found their form of late, the highlight being a 3-2 victory over Slough. They now face 3rd place Canterbury on Sat 26th April and a win there would put them into another away match at either Olton or Slough.

The 2nd's threw away their league chance with a 4-2 loss to Cambridge City. A poor display but they can still get a creditable 3rd place finish but need to win their last game against Folkestone.

The 3rd's got the 3 points they so badly wanted and depending on other results could have guaranteed themselves east hockey next season.

The 4th's went down 3-1 to Sudbury 2's and still are looking for that first win!

Finally the 5th's had a weekend off.

Congratulations to the 1's and 3's both getting the final result that they wanted. Please come along and support the 1's at Canterbury it is bound to be a good game.

Men shot down in 14 goal thriller

The 1st team got 4 goals but were outshine by Chelmsford 2's  who scored 9! One more league game to go and they will want to finish on a win.

This 2nd's got a 6-3 win but with Bedford winning they still remain in 2nd place and will need their rivals to slip up in the final match this weekend to claim the title.

The 3rd's lost 5-1 to Upminster 2nd's but even if they lose next week their nearest rivals would need to score 24 goals to grab the final promotion spot!  Well done guys the 1st promotion of the season.

The 4th's have a 3-0 win after IES 3rd's withdrew from the league

The 5th's did not get a game as Waltham Forest 3rd's pulled out and gave Ipswich a 3-0 walkover

The 6th's also did not get a game another IES team, this time their 6th's having withdrawn from the league.

Finally the Vet's awaiting result

27th March 2003

Ladies face final test against Hightown.

The 1st team are still buzzing after last weeks fantastic displays and know that a win against Hightown would see them take the final play-off spot and a probable game against Canterbury. Hightown however are always a danger and with Tina Cullen scoring goals seemingly at will Ipswich will have to work hard to get the result they want,.

The 2nd's face Cambridge City knowing that they must keep winning to take their title chances into the last weekend.

The 3rd's travel to bottom team Pelicans knowing that they must win to avoid relegation. 3 points here will set up a real nerve jangler against Long Sutton next weekend.

The 4th's take on Sudbury 2's and will be in for a tough game but a point is not out of the question.

Finally the 5th's have a weekend off and will resume match's next weekend.

So its make or bust time for the top 3 teams, non more so that the 1's who know that an outside shot at the Championship is still possible. 3 out of 3 please!

27th March 2003

Men hope local Derby will produce win

The 1st team will be hoping to get back into the winning grove after suffering 5-1 defeat last weekend. They play local rivals Chelmsford 2's and will be hoping for a repeat of their 5-2 victory earlier in the season.

This 2nd's cannot afford to slip up against Long Sutton, whom they beat 3-2 earlier on in the season, especially as Table toppers Bedford pay 3rd place Bourne.

The 3rd's know a win against Upminster 2nd's would give them promotion, so a repeat of their 2-1 would be the perfect result.

The 4th's have a 3-0 win after IES 3rd's withdrew from the league

The 5th's back in action take on Waltham Forest 3rd's and should get the win after recording an earlier 6-0 win.

The 6th's do not get a game another IES team, this time their 6th's having withdrawn from the league.

Finally the Vet's fresh from their victory last week take on St Ives.

A promotion is possible for the 3's this weekend and a win for the 2's also would see them move closer top glory. Come on guys and support your teams.

Ladies Suffolk Indoor team storm to final

The A team were back in action in the Suffolk Indoor Cup last night. The first match was against league winners Christchurch whom were the only side to beat Ipswich in the league, so there was no doubt this was going to be a tight contest. Ipswich eventually squeezed through 4-3 and next took on IES A in the semi-final.

Ipswich probably helped by their tough earlier match fund the going much easier in this match and romped home 8-2 to claim a 3rd successive finals spot.

They defend the trophy they have held for the last 2 years on April 7th at Rushmere Sports Club at 8.30 pm. Their opponents will be Essex based side Clacton who beat IES B in an earlier match.

23rd March 2003

Ladies take Chelmsford play off spot and get last laugh against Slough

The 1st team finally found their winning touch at the weekend and could not have timed it better. Saturday saw them dispatch local rivals Chelmsford in a comfortable 3-0 victory, then to rub slat in their rivals wounds they knocked them out of the play off spot by beating Champions elect Slough.

Sunday's match was the last of 3 very close contests between the two teams and this time it was Slough that tasted a 3-2 defeat. Ipswich knew how important these games were to their league season and it was a great team effort to ensure that their play off destiny now lies in their own hands. A win away to Hightown would leave their rivals needing to win by 11 goals or more and should see Ipswich into the Play-offs once more.

The 2nd's returned from Gravesend battered and bruised but very happy with their 5-1 victory. It was not an easy match in any sense but Ipswich put in a professional performance and now only lie 1 point behind the leaders with 2 games to go. Like the 1's they need to keep winning to take advantage of any slip ups by the leaders.

The 3rd's put in a brave effort against league leaders Wisbech but lost 3-1. They can take heart from their performance as they fight for league survival in their next 2 matches.

The 4th's went down 3-1 to Hadleigh and will be disappointed not to get at least a point.

Finally the 5th's got revenge over East Bergholt with a fantastic 5-2 win that takes them out of the bottom two for the firs time since the season.

A great weekend for the top 2 teams capped by  the 1's back in a Play-off spot. Also great to see the 5th's finally getting a well deserved win. Next weekend is another crucial one.

17th March 2003

Men gunned down by Champions

The 1st team could not repeat their win over Champions Crostyx and went down to a heavy 5-1 defeat. This result puts them 4th but still with a fighting chance of getting 3rd if not 2nd.

This 2nd's too crashed to a  5-1 defeat to put their league title hopes in jeopardy. They now sit in 2nd place 1 point behind Bedford but with Bourne still to play them the title is still up in the air.

The 3rd's went down 2-0 to Saffron Walden but should still clinch promotion as long as they avoid heavy defeats in their last 2 games.

The 4th's got the first win of the day recording a 3-1 victory over Brentwood 3's. This win keeps them mid table and out of relegation danger.

The 5th's had to unfortunately had to pull out of their match, ironic considering that last week it was them that benefited form a walkover.

The 6th's got a good win against Brentwood 7th's

Finally the Vet's got a great 4-2 win over Cambridge City.

Not a particularly good weekend for the Men's teams with the 4th's and Vet's the only good news.

17th March 2003

Ladies face derby game and Slough final test.

The 1st team have a huge weekend, the face local rivals Chelmsford on Saturday in match that they must win if they want to keep alive any hopes of a play off spot. Then on Sunday Slough travel to Suffolk for their 3rd meeting in 5 weeks. Ipswich have lost 3-2 on both occasions so far with all of Slough's goals coming form England striker Jane Smith. The team feel a win is overdue and 2 out of 2 here this weekend would see their season back on track.

The 2nd's travel to Gravesend knowing that their title hopes are still alive. A win here is a must as the top 2 play each other. A draw between those two would see Ipswich move back into 2nd place 2 points behind Letchworth with 2 games to go.

The 3rd's get back into league action and will need to produce the performance of the season to get a point against an unbeaten Wisbech team. Still fighting against relegation the 3rd's have strong team so anything could happen.

The 4th's take on Hadleigh and will be looking for at least a point after only narrowly losing 3-2 in the reverse game.

Finally the 5th's play East Bergholt and after losing 3-2 in their last fixture will be looking for the  revenge win.

A big weekend for the top 3 teams, they all need to win and results could decide the outcome of their seasons. Please make efforts to support all teams.

17th March 2003

Men aim to spoil Champions party.

The 1st team look to bounce back but have to play newly crowned champions Croystx. Being the only side to have beaten the league winners should give Ipswich heart but they are fielding a much changed team and will need to be at their best.

This 2nd's are still chasing the league title and this week have another top of the table clash against Bedford 2's. They won the last match 4-3 thanks to  Andy Cook scoring all 4 goals and this match is expected to be just as tight.

The 3rd's now need just 1 more win to secure promotion and they play Saffron Walden whom they beat 5-1 in the reverse fixture. Hopes are high for this side and promotion is definitely  warranted.

The 4th's take on Brentwood 3's looking to repeat their previous win and keep themselves out of any relegation trouble.

The 5th's looking forward to getting a game will play Southend 2's. They lost in the previous fixture but will want revenge.

The 6th's stung by their defeat to IES last week will want to get back to winning ways against Brentwood 7th's.

Finally the Vet's take on Cambridge City.

A promotion is possible for the 3's this weekend and a win for the 2's also would see them move closer top glory. Come on guys and support your teams.

17th March 2003

Ladies lose out to Slough again as Smith strikes again

The 1st team will be fed up of losing 3-2 to Slough and especially to a Jane smith Hat-trick. For the 2nd time in 3 weeks Ipswich could not get the better of Slough despite exploiting weakness in the Slough side.  They take on Slough for the 3rd  time this weekend and  will be hoping it will be 3rd time lucky.

The 2nd's got the winning feeling back with a 2-1 win against Dereham and with it came an outside shot at the League title as leaders Letchworth were held to a surprising draw.

The 3rd's did not have a game as Alford pulled out the league.

The 4th's lost to Sudbury after a disappointing first half performance but were pleased with their second half performance.

Finally the 5th's got a 3-0 win as Grasshoppers pulled out of the game on the Friday night.

17th March 2003

Men crash to west Herts

The 1st team with a new look team went down 4-1 to an inform West Herts side. Even though the result was disappointing the overall determination and tea spirit bodes well.

This 2nd's drew 3-3 with fellow title chaser Bourne and with only 3 games to go things are still tight at the top.  Ipswich are 2 points clear but both Bedford and Bourne are only 2 points behind. Ipswich will play Bedford next weekend then Bedford and Bourne will play the week after, so things could not be closer!

The 3rd's now need just 1 more win to secure promotion. They beat Cranes 4-0.

The 4th's got another vital 3-1 win against Sudbury 2's and that keeps them out of relegation trouble.

The 5th's also did not play this weekend, getting a 3-0 victory as Billericay did not put a team out.

The 6th's went down 4-2 to IES 5th's in a disappointing result.

Finally the Vet's affected by England call ups lost 3-2 to a strong Chelmsford but the youngsters they brought in did a good job.

12th March 2003

Ladies eager for Cup revenge and 3 points

The 1st team will need to take their chances this weekend if they want to get revenge for their Cup defeat at the expense of League leaders Slough. Ipswich know they can create but it has been the final shot that has let the Suffolk team down. A win away at Slough would see Ipswich back in Play Off contention and would set up an impelling match next weekend as Slough travel to Ipswich in a rearranged league game.

The 2nd's are keen to bounce back after last weeks disappointment but know they have their hands full with a Dereham side that is fighting relegation. Ipswich are keen to finish in the top 2 so know a win is a must.

The 3rd's do not have a game this week and will be hoping that results go their way to keep them in with a chance of staying in the East Leagues. With only 3 games left every point is vital.

The 4th's have another tough match against leaders Sudbury but after last weeks fighting display against 2nd place Haverhill they know a point at least is a possibility.

Finally the 5th's take on Grasshoppers and will be looking to build on last weeks good performance.

12th March 2003

Men keen to get back in action as 2's have vital table topping clash

The 1st team face West Herts and will need to be ready for a tough game. West Herts surprised Harleston last weekend with a 1-0 win and are obviously in form. Ipswich will be keen to keep chasing 2nd place.

This 2nd's have probably their biggest match of the season when they play Bourne at home. A win here would put Ipswich 5 points clear with 3 games to go but any slip up could see Bourne go top.

The 3rd's need 2 more wins to secure promotion and will be looking to get one of those against Crane's, who held them to a 0-0 draw in their last game.

The 4th's still need to keep winning to stave of relegation worries and will be hoping to repeat their 5-0 thrashing of Sudbury 2's.

The 5th's will want to bounce back against Billericay.

The 6th's take on IES 5's and will want a repeat of their 4-2 win back in November.

Finally the Vet's take on Dereham.

7th March 2003

3 players selected for Girls East U21

Congratulations to Royal Hospital School pupils and Ipswich 1st and 2nd team players, Ella Kenny, Jo Jo Anderson and Laura Peskett, as all 3 of them were selected to represent the East in the U21 side.

Probably the most surprised of all is Peskett, who is only just 17 and is playing her first season of Club hockey with the 2nd Team in the Printwize East Premier League. However she is no doubt an outstanding Goal Keeping talent and with expert coaching from Ex-GB Keeper Jo Thompson she will surely only get better.

Congratulations to all 3 and good luck.

7th March 2003

Ladies let Canterbury off the hook and drop out of play off spot.

The 1st team will be kicking themselves this morning, knowing that they should have won this home game. So many chances went begging and even the Canterbury coach admitted that his side was very lucky to take the win. Ipswich now lie in 6th place 3 points behind the 4th place spot but with a game in hand. Winning that now looks crucial should they want to make the play-offs.

The 2nd's slipped to 3rd place after losing an excellent game of hockey 4-2 to Sevenoaks. With leaders Letchworth now looking a good bet for the title Ipswich will be looking to claim a 2nd place finish to cap a remarkable season for a squad that is rebuilding.

The 3rd's drop back into relegation danger with a 1-0 loss to local rivals IES. In a close game Ipswich will feel rather unlucky not to get at least a draw. At least next week they are guaranteed a 3-0 victory as opponents Alford have withdrawn form the league.

The 4th's went down 2-1 to Haverhill in another very close game and are looking to be edging ever closer to that first  win.

Finally the 5th's took on table toppers IES 3rd's and know that the 8-2 loss does not come close to showing how close the mach was, especially in the first half.

7th March 2003

Men's 2's blast 7 to keep flying in top spot of Premier B

The 1st team did not have a game this week as Clacton have withdrawn from the league so without hitting a ball they have gained a 3-0 win.

This left the  2nd's as the top team and they gave a worthy performance blasting 7 goals past Letchworth to win 7-1.  They play fellow title chasers Bourne next weekend knowing that a win there would take them 5 points clear with 3 games left to play.

The 3rd's after recording  4-1 victory over Harlow are just 2 wins away from recording promotion to Div 3 SE.

The 4th's got the win  they needed with their best display of hockey all season. A 4-0 victory over Thurrock sees them move even further clear of any relegation issues.

The 5th's could not get the win they wanted and went down to a heavy 6-1 defeat by Little Baddow 2nd's

The 6th's lost 7-2 to a strong Croystx 5th team

Finally the Vet's awaiting result

7th March 2003

Ladies need win to keep play-off hopes alive

The 1st team will be wanting to cement 4th place with a win against 3rd placed Canterbury. The match will be a close affair with Canterbury having one of their best seasons for years.

The 2nd's have a must win game against Sevenoaks if they want to stand any chance of catching leaders Letchworth.

The 3rd's at last out of the relegation zone have a tough derby games against IES. With the last 4 match's ending in a draw both sides will be going flat out for a win.

The 4th's improving with every game take on Haverhill in a tough game.

Finally the 5th's tackle IES 3rd's in another derby game and will be wanting to build on their draw last week but will have a hard match against the high fliers.

7th March 2003

Men's 2's top dog as 1's have weekend off

The 1st team do not have a game this week as Clacton have withdrawn from the league so without hitting a ball they have gained a 3-0 win.

The 2nd's now leading the Premier B Division will be wanting to keep it that way when they take on Letchworth.

The 3rd's still in a promotion slot take on Harlow and will want the win to keep them in the promotion hunt.

The 4th's need another win to keep the out of relegation danger and take on Thurrock away.

The 5th's will want to bounce back with a win against Little Baddow 2's

The 6th's take on Croystx 5th's and will be hoping to face a full team this time around.

Finally the Vet's take on Cambridge South after missing out on a game last week.

5th March 2003

AGM Thursday 8th May 2003 7.30 pm @ Henley Road

Please note the date and time for our first new merged AGM. It is vitally important that as many members as possible attend. This is the ideal opportunity for club members to have their say and ask questions.  It is also that time of year when we vote in next years committee and Captains, so again please make every effort to attend.  All members will receive details in the post in the near future.

3rd March 2003

Ladies blast 7 past Sutton and go fourth

The 1st team after so many near misses finally got all 3 points on Saturday and did so in some style. A 7-2 thrashing of a Sutton team that looks certain to enter the relegation play-offs. With a hard home game against Canterbury coming up this was the ideal tonic for a team so full of scoring potential.

The 2nd's kept up the pursuit of Letchworth with a 3-1 win against Anchorians. Next weeks game with Sevenoaks will prove to be vital to both sides league chances.

The 3rd's got revenge for their 5-0 loss and took all 3 points with a great 2-1 victory at home to Old Buckenham. An important win that sees them move out of the relegation area.

The 4th's were so close to getting at least a point but in the end went down 3-2 to IES 2nd's

Finally the 5th's got a  great result against Christchurch 2nd's, a 3-3 draw seeing them gain a well earned point against a side that had beaten them 4-0 in the first part of the season.

So the Ladies 1's are in a possible play-off spot and with the 3rd's and 5th's getting great results, it shows how far all the teams have progressed in this first season after our merger. Well done to all.

3rd March 2003

Men hit 5 as they get back in winning grove

The 1st team took Colchester to the cleaners with a fine 5-1 win and with it stayed firmly on the heels of Harleston in 3rd pace. Captain Richard Fox scoring an impressive 4 goals.

The 2nd's kept up the chase on the Premier B title with a 4-0 win at Pelicans.

The 3rd's lost 5-1 to leaders Wapping

The 4th's at last got their win they so badly wanted, a 2-0 victory against Witham 2nd's.

The 5th's could not repeat their early season victory over local rivals Chelmsford 4's and lost 7-3

The 6th's got their double win against Redbridge and Ilford 4h's with a 5-2 victory.

Finally the Vet's take on Dereham away.

Some good results especially the 2nd team as they chase the league title.
