Ellis
fulfils Olympic dream
Ipswich 1st team star Jo Ellis
has been selected as 1 of 16 players in the Women's GB Hockey
Squad for the Beijing Olympics. It is a dream come true
for the Ipswich player and she joins, Sandie Lister, Vickey
Dixon, Jo Thompson, Jane Smith and Hilary Rose as an Ipswich
player who has been selected for an Olympic Games.

Jo
has battled long and hard to reach this dream and there were
many times during the last 6 months, as she fought off injury,
when she thought she might miss out on her chance .Displaying
a determination
that was incredible she refused to give in and has no been
rewarded with a one in a life time chance to become an Olympic
athlete.
Congratulations
Jo, the Club are so proud of you and we will be cheering you
all the way.

Ellis
dreams of Olympic chance
Ipswich 1st team star Jo Ellis
will find out on Tuesday 24th June whether her dedication and perseverance
has paid off, as the GB Olympic squad is announced.
Ellis
has been battling with injuries since her ill-fated fall in Australia
back in January but has shown amazing resilience to battle on
a strive for her Olympic dream.
Should
Ellis make the squad she will join the long list of Ipswich
players to take part in a Olympic Games and will be the first current
Ipswich player since Jo Thompson at the 1996 Atlanta Games to
become an Olympian.

Club Dinner yet?
Tuddenham
Road was transformed on Saturday night, as a fantastic Marquee
was erected on the grass and over 128 guests attended the Ipswich
Hockey Club 207-2008 Awards Dinner. A stunning Porsche
Boxster, which was raffled off for a 48 hours test drive
during the dinner, flanked the entrance to the marquee
as guests arrived for the 007 theme ball.
After
a delicious meal provide by the new club caterers Chairman
James Wrinch compared the award ceremony. First on the list to
thank was Club Sponsor Seven and their owner Mr. Roy Dunnett.
As a token of the club thanks for his continued support Roy
was presented with a framed signed England shirt of 1st
Team player and ex-GB and England star Leisa King. Roy also
was kind enough to stay and present the awards to the winners.

Dream
still on for Ellis
Fighting
her way back to fitness Ipswich 1st team star Jo Ellis has
been selected for the GB squad that will travelt o Ireland to
play in the Setanta trophy.

Jo
in action for England
The tournament, which
will take place between 11-15 June, will see Great Britain
take on European and reigning Olympic Champions Germany,
together with Ireland and South Africa in the four team
tournament which will be played alongside the men’s
competition.
Head Coach Danny Kerry
said “The Setanta tournament comes at an excellent time
in our preparations – we have two good standard tournaments
in June to assist our match play and sharpness. We look
forward to this period of competitive matches against some
good opposition, starting with current Olympic Gold medalists
Germany.”
After the Setanta Trophy
GB Women will travel to Rotterdam for a four nations
tournament including India, South Africa and The Netherlands
between 21-28 June before another series of training camps.
They will take on Spain in Terrassa between 11-16 July.
The GB men’s squad for
the Setanta Trophy was announced on 21 May. The men’s
& women’s squad for the Olympic Games will be announced
by the British Olympic Association on 24 June.
