Ladies 2's 2 minutes from a point as Men continue relentless push to title.

The Men's 1's out-played mid-table Bishop Stortford and gained a 3-1 victory that edges them nearer to the title. With the 2nd and 3rd place sides playing each other next week Ipswich could stretch their lead even further. The Ladies 2's travelled to  Maidstone full of confidence and went so close to gaining a well deserved point.  In a great advert for East hockey both sides played great attacking hockey. Ipswich however know that they need the points as the teams below them closed the gap. The  Men's 2's  faced league leaders in the shape of Havering and lost 6-2, unable to repeat their previous victory over this side.  The Ladies 3's lost out in a  local derby game v  Bury 2's losing 3-0.   The Men's 3's dropped 3 points as they lost out to Peterborough Athletic 2-0.  The Ladies 4's  lifted the gloom with a cracking 2-0 victory over Sudbury 4's. A huge improvement from their 4-0 loss to the same team back in October 04. The Men's 4's  are still battling hard play but lost  heavily to Old De Ferrians 2's going down 7-0. w Finally the Men's Vet's beat  Harleston Vets 6-2.

A poor weekend results wise with the only highlights being the Men's 1's, Ladies 4's and the Men's Vets.

Ladies 2's face leaders as Men aim to take another step towards title.

The Ladies 1's  have an Indoor training weekend in preparation for National Finals.

The Men's 1's face mid-table Bishop Stortford and know that another win would see them move within 3 wins of the title and promotion back in to National League. The Ladies 2's upbeat from last weeks victory face a tough game against league leaders Maidstone.  The  Men's 2's will be keen to get back into action after last weeks postponement due to frost and also face league leaders in the shape of Havering. Ipswich are in fact the only side to have beaten the leaders 4-3 back in October 04.  The Ladies 3's have a local derby game as they take on bottom of the table Bury 2's. As with every derby game this is bound to be a close match but Ipswich will be keen to take 3 points.  The Men's 3's game was also postponed due to heavy frost and they will be keen to get back into action against a Peterborough Athletic side that sit only 1 point above them. The reverse fixture back inn October was a 0-0 draw.  The Ladies 4's  on a high after tier first win in 05 play Sudbury 4's and despite a 4-0 loss in their last fixture hopes are high that Ipswich can claim a win.  The Men's 4's are still looking for that elusive win and play Old De Ferrians 2's, whom they lost 4-2 to in the reverse fixture.. Finally the Men's Vet's play a Harleston Vets side that they have yet to beat in 5 previous meetings.

Some big games, none more so than they Men's 1's who are so close to achieving promtion.

Ladies 1's destroy Hightown to make National Finals as Men hit cloud 9!

The Ladies 1's  stepped up their game at the weekend to record a hat-trick of wins that sees them at Finals night for the first time since 2001. They beat Harleston 3-1, St Austell 5-1 and then ran riot against Hightown winning 6-1 to see them finish in 3rd place. They now face Hightown again in the second semi final on Friday 4th February 2004.  Tickets can be bought from 10 am Tuesday 25th Jan 01908 544664.

The Men's 1's took another giant step to National League hockey with a 9-2 hammering of bottom side Dereham . They now sit 9 points clear of Bedford. The Ladies 2's beat Cambridge City 1-0, scoring with only minutes left. A vital win for the 2's.  The  Men's 2's game was postponed due to heavy frost. The Ladies 3's lost 1-0 to  Brentwood and will want to get back to winning ways soon.  The Men's 3's game was postponed due to heavy frost.  The Ladies 4's  beat  Felixstowe 2's 1-0 to secure their first win in 05  A great battling performance and a truly deserved win. The Men's 4's battled hard and did themselves proud but could not stop 2nd placed Harlow winning 4-0. Finally the Men's Vet's beat Waveney 5-0.

A massive weekend for the Ladies 1's and Men's 1's and they both rose to the challenge with real style. Also fantastic results for Ladies 2's and 4's. A very pleasing weekend.

Ladies 1's need wining run as men face bottom team.

The Ladies 1's face a tough weekend of 4 games, knowing that unless results go their way they need 4 wins out of 4 to make finals night. Ipswich face Harleston, St Austell, Trojans and Hightown. The Men's 1's should cruise to victory over bottom of the table Dereham . The Ladies 2's face Cambridge City and will want a win to help them move up the table..  The  Men's 2's play an Old De Ferrians side who are 2nd bottom and will need the points. The Ladies 3's will want to bounce back against a Brentwood side 2 places above them.  The Men's 3's play Norwich City 2's who are 1 place and 2 points above them.  The Ladies 4's  play Felixstowe 2's and will be looking for a first win in 05 . The Men's 4's are also looking for that win but face a tough test in 2nd placed Harlow. Finally the Men's Vet's do not have a game.

An important weekend for the Ladies 1's, with the 2's also needing a win to get back on track. The Men's 1's should take another step toward National League promotion with a win.

Ladies 1's get mixed bag as Men inch closer to National League

The Ladies 1's had some mixed results at the Higgins Group Indoor League. Despite losing 4-3 to Chelmsford the side played well and then showed their class with a 8-0 demolishing of Sutton later on on the Saturday. Sunday saw them perform badly against Clifton to lose 4-2 but then they can count themselves unlucky not to have got a win after a 2-2 draw with Slough.   This leaves them 6th in the table and with only 4 teams able to go through to finals night Ipswich know that they need to win all 4 games next weekend to give themselves a chance. The Men's 1's saw off Blueharts 4-1 to maintain their 6 point lead at the top of East Premier A and with only 9 games to go things are looking good . The Ladies 2's could not continue their winning start to 05 as they lost 2-0 to Cambridge University despite dominating the match.  The  Men's 2's lost 6-1 to a  Long Sutton side whom they should have beaten. The Ladies 3's  lost 4-0 to local rivals Carlton Park.  The Men's 3's battled well but could not stop unbeaten league leaders Spalding and lost 4-1.  The Ladies 4's lost 6-0 to 2nd placed Sudbury 3's . The Men's 4's lost 4-1 to Waltham Forest and are still looking for that first victory. Finally the Men's Vet's lost 4-0 to a very good Canterbury side in a tough Cup game.

A poor weekend on the ladies side, with only the 1's offering a ray of light. A bit better on the men's side with The men's 1's as usual lead the way with another victory but no other points for the other sides sees a bad weekend.

Ellis scores for England as Ladies beat South Africa 3-0

Ipswich star Jo Ellis scored the 3rd goal in the recent training games against South Africa in Johannesburg yesterday. Ellis along with fellow Ipswich stars Cath Gilliat-Smith and Beccy Duggan are with the England squad in South Africa until Friday.

The team had already beaten their host's 2-0 on Wednesday and will be looking to wrap up a 3-0 victory when they play again today.

Ellis, Duggan and Gilliat-Smith will then be keeping their fingers crossed that they make it back to the UK in time on Saturday morning to help Ipswich in the Indoor League. Despite the grueling travel ahead of them the girls did not even contemplate missing any of the Ipswich games, a true credit to the team , club and the players themselves.

Ladies back in Indoor action as men aim to march onwards

The Ladies 1's get back to hockey action as the English Hockey  Higgins Indoor League season kicks off. Ipswich play in the Premier league and are fighting for  a top 4 finish to see them through to the finals night at Crystal palace. Saturday they face defending Champions Chelmsford  followed by Sutton then Slough and Clifton on Sunday. The following weekend sees them play the remaining teams. The Men's 1's on a high from their 7-0 thrashing of Broxbourne will be looking for more of the same as the play mid table Blueharts, whom they beat 8-2 in the reverse fixture. The Ladies 2's also on a high after a good win will want to extend that winning run against Cambridge University.   The  Men's 2's play their first game of 2005 against a Long Sutton side who are 2 places and 2 points above them in the league table and will be looking for revenge over a side that beat them 4-2 in their first meeting.. The Ladies 3's  face local rivals and 2nd form bottom side Carlton Park. Ipswich won 3-2 in the previous fixture so this could be a close game. The Men's 3's start 05 with a very tough game as they face unbeaten league leaders Spalding.  The 3's lost 6-1 in  their last game but have improved a lot since then so this will be a good test.  The Ladies 4's face Sudbury 3's whom they lost 5-0n to in the reverse game. An improved performance here is required. The Men's 4's are still looking for their first win but should stand a god chance against a Waltham Forest 2's side who are only one place above them. The previous game was 7-5 to Waltham Forest. Finally the Men's Vets do not have a game on Saturday as they face Canterbury away in a tough Cup game on the Sunday.

Great to see all teams back in action and if last weekends results are the shape of things to come 2005 looks like it could  be a good year.

Winning start to 2005

The Ladies 2's started 2005 in the best possible way on Saturday beating local rivals Chelmsford 2's 3-1. The vital win sees them continue their climb up the table and away from relegation danger. The Men's 1's destroyed Broxbourne 7-0 to remind the rest of the league that they are still the team to beat and to move 6 points clear at the top of the table. On Sunday they took part in the east Indoor tournament and despite a good start beating Havering 5-1, Dereham 4-0 but they eventually lost to Magpies in the decider 7-3 The team just  ran out of steam after Saturday's re-arranged league match .The Ladies 3's also started 2005 well drawing 2-2 with a strong UEA side . The Ladies 4's could not complete the clean sweep losing 4-1 to  Haverhill 2's but considering they had an outfield player in goal this was a good effort by the 4's. They narrowly lost 1-0 in the reverse fixture so will be aiming to start 05 with a win.

A great win for the Ladies 2's and the men's 1's which gives them both something to build on in 2005.

Teams get back into League action

After a 3 week break the Ladies East and Suffolk League swings back into action, the Men's 1's also start a week early as they have a re-arranged game v Broxbourne.

The Ladies 2's will be looking to start 05 with a win and get their season back on track after a  difficult time in 04. They face a tough test against local rivals and 4th placed side Chelmsford 2's but Ipswich should be able to field a full squad and have high hopes of securing 3 points and avenging their 5-1 loss in the reverse fixture. The Men's 1's face 9th placed Broxbourne and know that a win would see them move 6 points clear at the top of the table and keep them on track for promotion to National League. The Ladies 3's are also back in action, they face a UEA side that sit 2 places below them. Ipswich won 2-1 when the sides met back October and will be looking for a similar result. The Ladies 4's complete the League action as they face Haverhill 2's. They narrowly lost 1-0 in the reverse fixture so will be aiming to start 05 with a win.

Some interesting games and results should prove a good yardstick for what is to come in 05.
