Ladies 2's look to keep Bury bottom

The 2's aim to continue their advance up the league table with another 3 points on Saturday. They face local rivals and bottom of the league side Bury. Bury ran out 3-0 winners in the previous fixture but Ipswich are the in form team this time round and will want a good win to wipe out that result.

The 3's also play local rivals Carlton Park and with only 4 points separating the two sides this should be a close contest.

The 4's faced Sudbury Talbot's last week and now play Sudbury Tigers. A win this time around is hoped for.

Again with the 1's resting the 2'sd lead the way and will be wanting to maintain their 100% 2004 record. The 3's and 4's will also be wanting to get the winning feeling.

29th January 2004

Men's 1's know that 3 points are vital as do all other sides.

Ipswich 1's face bottom of the table Peterborough and know that with only 3 points between the teams this is really a 6 point contest. Ipswich cannot afford to drop points in this game and will be wanting the win.

The 2's face Peterborough 2's who are also bottom of the Premier B league, but again Ipswich know that they must get the win over a side that has not won a game yet.

The  3's placed 2nd in Div 3 SE face 3rd placed Southend who sit only 1 point behind them. A win for Ipswich would see them open up an important 4 point gap but this will be a hard test.

The 4's on the back of a great win over Harlow will be aiming to keep confidence high as they face 2nd placed East London. The 4's need another 3 points to keep them in with a chance of avoiding relegation.

The 5's after facing the league leaders last week will be hoping for an easier match against mid table Ford 2's.

The vet's aim to march on v Waveney

As the season ticks on each game becomes very important and with all teams still in the mix for ether promotion or relegation there is all to fight for.

King selected for GB Athens trip but Ellis misses out.

There was conflicting emotions between the 2 Ipswich England stars as the GB Team for the Athens Olympic Test event was released yesterday. While 31 year old Leisa King will be looking forward to playing at the Olympic venue, 22 year old Jo Ellis will not be making the trip.

Leisa King Jo Ellis

Of little consolation to Ellis is the fact that at only 22 she will have hopefully have several more Olympics ahead of her.

The squad in Athens will face Australia, South Africa and Spain

Ladies 2's enjoy another victory

The 2's continued their great start to 2004 with another victory and more importantly 3 vital points. A 1-0 victory over 2nd placed Cambridge was thoroughly deserved and it sees Ipswich move further away from relegation. The team now face local rivals Bury who sit adrift at the bottom of the table and there is no doubt that Ipswich will be looking for revenge after losing 3-0 to them at the start of the season.

The 3's faced leaders Norwich City but despite playing well they lost out 3-0, a score line that did not reflect the close game.

The 4's faced Sudbury Talbot's and narrowly lost 3-1.

Not the 3 wins wanted but all teams are playing some good hockey and it is great to see the 2's finding their form.

26th January 2004

Men's 1's just miss out as 3's and 4's record vital wins.

Ipswich 1's faced 5th placed Cambridge City on Saturday, and unlike the Women could not get the win they wanted losing 3-2. With them only just above the relegation zone Ipswich know that they must become more consistent.

The 2's bounced back from last weeks heavy loss to record a 1-1 draw with Brentwood . Not enough to move them out of relegation but it keeps them in with a fighting chance.

The  3's stayed 2nd with a 5-3 win over  Brentwood 2's and will have been pleased with a win over a team they only drew with in the first part of the season.

The 4's faced Harlow and showed fantastic character to claim a 2-1 victory and a much needed 3 points against a physical Harlow side.

The 5's in the hardest match of the day faced league leaders Old de Ferrian's and lost out 8-0.

The vet's  beat Colchester 5-0.

Great results for the 3's and 4's.

22nd January 2004

Ladies 2's look for another win

With the 1's having the next 2 weekends off the 2's lead the way with a tough match against Cambridge City. City placed 2nd in the table will be favourites on paper for the win but Ipswich are much changed squad from the first part of season and are confident they can get something out of this game.

The 3's are back in Norwich this weekend after their 3-1 win over UEA last weekend and will be hoping for the same result as they face Norwich city.

The 4's after a weekend off play Sudbury Talbot's and are able to field a strong side so are keen for some points.

With 3 wins out of 3 last weekend there is a lot of live up to but all teams have strong sides so you never know!

Men's 1's look to build on good performance

Ipswich 1's face 5th placed Cambridge City on Saturday, knowing that another win here would see them move up into a mid table position.

The 2's will be looking to get over their heavy defeat with a win against a Brentwood team at are only 2 places ahead of them in the table. in fact a win here would see them move out of the relegation zone at their opponents expense.

The  3's slipped off the top of the table and know that they need a win against Brentwood 2's to stay in touch.

The 4's after a postponed match last week face Harlow and again need a win to give them vital points.

The 5's have arguably the hardest match of the day facing league leaders Old de Ferrian's and with no points to their name the 5's will have to upset the odds to get any here.

The vet's  play Essex side Colchester.

Every game now seems vital for all teams and a clean sweep would be a a great boost.

Ladies 1's prove a point as 2's move out of relegation zone

Ipswich 1's displayed a real fighting spirit as they turned in 3 fantastic performances to see them finish safe in 6th place in the Higgins Indoor Premier League. It was a great squad effort and one the team and coaching staff should be very proud of.

Ipswich Indoor Squad 2004

Back row left to right: D Mills (Manager), H Robinson, A Tippen, T Barnard,

S Bamfield, J Ellis, V Sandall, K Bond

Front Row left to right:  K Spencer, A Nunn, L Aldous (Cpt), V Roberts,

M Sharpe, K MacDonald (Coach)

The 2's also showed what they were about beating Gravesend 2-1 to see them move of the bottom and out of the relegation zone.

The 3's continued the best weekend of the season so far for Ipswich with a 3-1 victory over  UEA.

The 4's played a friendly

3 great results that kicked off 2004 in the perfect way. The aim is to keep this up for the rest of 2004. Well done to all.

15th January 2004

Men's 1's hit Bourne for 6 as 2's falter.

Ipswich 1's hammered  Bourne 6-0 and saw themselves move 4 points clear of relegation trouble. A great performance and one that debutant GK Nick Bignell is likely to enjoy for a long time.

The 2's knew they had a hard match v  4th placed Dereham and sadly lost 7-2 to see them stay in the relegation zone.

The top of the table 3's faced 4th placed Chelmsford 3's and nothing could separate the as they played out a 1-1 draw. With Wapping winning it sees Ipswich drop to 2nd place 2 points behind.

The 4's match v Saffron Walden was postponed.

The 5's faced Chelmsford 4's and 2004 continued as 2003 left off with a loss. They went down 12-1 and are firmly rooted to the bottom of the table.

The vet's v Cambridge City away awaiting result

Congratulations to the 1's for turning in a great performance, but still need to get points on the board for several other teams to move them up the table.

15th January 2004

Ladies 1's need to fight back as East teams start league games.

Ipswich 1's need to get the winning habit this weekend to fight off relegation from the Premier Indoor league. 2 wins are the minimum needed and even though this is a hard task for the side they have more than enough talent to be able to pull out of danger.

The 2's are back in league action and like the 1's are keen to get a win to move them off the bottom of the table. Ipswich are able to field a strong side against Gravesend  and know that they need to take all 3 points to get their season back on track.

The 3's have a tough away game v the students of UEA but again can felid a strong side.

The 4's have no game this week.

A very important weekend for the 1's and 2's and with the pressure really on both sides need to show their true colours.

15th January 2004

Men's 1's back in action along with rest of the teams

Ipswich 1's face Bourne away on Saturday and will want to get 2004 off with a win. With only goal difference between them an a relegation spot Ipswich know that a win is a must to keep them moving up the table.

The 2's face 4th placed Dereham and know they will have to turn in a very good performance.

The top of the table 3's face 4th placed Chelmsford 3's who are only 4 points behind. A repeat of their earlier win over them would be the perfect result.

The 4's play Saffron Walden who lie in the middle of the table and know that they need the points to move them out of the relegation zone.

The 5's face Chelmsford 4's. Still searching for their first win this will prove to be a difficult match.

The vet's take on Cambridge City away and will be looking to continue on their winning way.

With several teams in or near the relegation zone it is important that 2004 starts off with as many points as possible. The 3's will also be looking to keep themselves at the top of SE Div 3.

King off to South Africa as Olympic preparations step up a gear

Ipswich star Leisa King flew out to South Africa with the GB squad on Saturday to take part in some warm weather training prior to the Olympic Qualification tournament in march. Fellow team-mate Jo Ellis, even though still part of the assessment squad, has not been selected to go and is instead playing a large part in Ipswich's Indoor campaign.

Leisa will return to the UK on the 24th January.

12th January 2004

Ladies 1's start slowly as 4's pick up win

Despite several good performances the Ladies 1's could only manage to take 1 point out of 4 games at the weekend. Leading Chelmsford 2-1 with 5 minutes to go the team finally ran out of steam and went down 6-2. A 2-2 draw against Slough was the highlight but gain they should and could have taken all 3 points. Sunday saw the most disappointing performance losing 2-1 to Liverpool Quilter. A 5-2 loss to Hightown saw the team at least turn in a much better performance against one of the contenders. With next weekend offering some of the easier match's Ipswich know that they will probably need at least 2 wins to stay in the division. A hard task but one that they team is more than capable of.

The Ladies 4's were the only other Women's side in action and they got a good 3-0 won against  East Bergholt in a Suffolk Div 1 game.

The Men's 2's face local rivals IES and as usual a hard competitive game is expected.

The Men's 3's friendly was cancelled by the opposition.

The Men's 4's are due to face Sudbury at home and will be hoping to blow out any cobwebs.

Finally the Vets are due to play IES.

A full league fixture list starts next weekend

Unlike the Outdoor league relegation Indoors is still live for the bottom 2 teams so Ipswich will be keen to keep out of any danger.
