head West looking for 3 points, as the Vets look towards a
semi-final place
The
Women 1's
make the long trip West to Bristol to face a Clifton side 1
place and 3 points above them. Ipswich need to re-discover their
winning form and get a result. The Women
2's face probably the biggest
game of their season so far as they travel to Old Loughtonians
on Saturday. Both sides are tied on 19 points and know that
the winner of this game will have given themselves a very good
chance of surviving relegation with only 4 games to go. The 3's
face a tough game against unbeaten leaders Saffron Walden. The 4's
are also playing their league leaders this time Carlton Park The 5's
take on Haverhill 2's
The
Men's 1's
travel to Whitchurch knowing that a win would see them almost guaranteed
EHL hockey next year, a fantastic achievement for this young
squad. The Men's 2's will
be aiming to get back to winning ways against Wapping. The
3's
play Spalding and need a win to keep them in a promotion spot. The 4's
play Norwich Union 3's and will
be looking for a good win to keep them top of the table..
The already promoted 5's play
Norwich city 6's and will want a big score to keep them top. The
Vets play
their Vintage Cup Quarter-final v Isca. The visitors have come
all the way from Exeter and will prove a stern test but
Ipswich are playing some great hockey and will be keen to
reach their first ever semi-final in this competition.

of season.
The
Men's 1's
beat 5th placed Oxted 2-1 to move further up the Slazenger EHL
South table and have almost secured National League hockey for

went down 3-1 to league leaders Harleston
Magpies. The 3's
beat March town5-3. The 4's

The
Men's 1's
will be looking to bounce back on Saturday as they take on
Oxted who are one place and 7 points above them. Ipswich won

South African International players that could not play that
day and will need to rediscover their winning form that has
been missing over the alst few games. The Men's 2's also
face a tough game a home game against Prem A leaders and local
Norfolk rivals Harleston Magpies.. The

play March town away. The 4's

with a vital 6 pointer against Letchworth. A win for Ipswich
could see them move out of the bottom three. The 3's
play Harleston 3's away and 4's
play Felixstowe. The 5's
happy to have found a GK play
Carlton Park 2's.

No
joy for 1's but Vets move into Cup Quarter finals
The
Women 1's have
to reflect on one of the worst weekend in their history as
they lost 5-1 to Olton on Saturday and then7-1 to Slough away
in the Cup quarter finals on Sunday. The Women
2's,
3's and 4's
all had a weekend off with the 5's
playing a re-arranged game. The U15
Girls were scheduled to play
Harleston in the Cup but half-term and 1's cup playing duties
have played havoc with the side and they unfortunately have
had to concede the tie.
The
Men's 1's
joined the Women with a poor result against bottom team Teddington
losing 6-4. With Cambridge Uni closing the gap from the
relegation spot Ipswich need to get back to wining ways. The Men's 2's lost
3-0 to Dereham. The
3's
game against Felixstowe was abandoned. The 4's
got a narrow 5-4 win over Felixstowe 2's. The
league leaders the 5's
also recorded a narrow 1-0 win over Lowestoft Railway 2's. The
Vets postponed
their league game against
Chelmsford away but beat Winchester in the
over 40's cup 3-3 after Penalty strokes. The team now play

travel to take on league leaders Slough for a place in the Cup

3's and 4's
all have a weekend off with the 5's

Harleston in the Cup but half-term and 1's cup playing duties
have played havoc with the side and they unfortunately have
had to concede the tie.
The
Men's 1's
travel to play bottom team Teddington and will want a repeat
of their early season win. The Men's 2's play
a Dereham side who have a game in hand and are only 6 points

Ellis
injured in Oz and flies home
Ipswich
Women 1's GB
star player Jo Ellis
will fly home from Australia this weekend after spending
several days in hospital. Jo is on the mend but needs time to
recuperate and was not able to play a further role in the GB
matches against Australia. Jo is the the second player
making the trip home, after Charlotte Cradock flew back last
week with a back injury. We wish her a speedy recovery and
look forward to seeing her back in GB action very soon.

poor starts cost them but 2's earn good points.
The

the last 7 minutes to slip to a 5-3 defeat. With a hard
weekend approaching the team need to get back to basics and
play some simple hockey . The

3rd place narrow to only 3 points. The 4's

The
Women 1's finally
get back into outdoor Slazenger EHL Premier league action this
sat after a 3 month break. The team travel to Kent to take on
Canterbury. With the teams tied on points and also goal
difference this is bound to be a close game. Ipswich won the
encounter at Tuddenham Road 2-0 and will be hoping to complete
the double this weekend. Also
back in action will be striker Jenny Hall who has recovered
from her broken thumb that saw her miss the final 3 games of
2007 and all the indoor season. The

Suffolk and know that they need a win to keep them on track
for avoiding the dreaded drop. The

spot as they face 2nd placed Stevenage. The 4's are

Men
turn in good performances and are finally rewarded.
The Men's 1's
will count themselves unlucky not to have got something out of
a good game against previous leaders Exeter University. The students beat Ipswich 8-2 at
the start of the season and Ipswich were determined to show
they had progressed since then. Despite losing 2-1 Ipswich
played well and took that confidence into Sundays game against 10th placed Robinsons.
Ipswich dispatched them 4-2 and moved up to 6th place in the table. The Men's 2's
narrowly beat Havering 2-1 but it was a good win away from
home. The second placed 3's
made hard work of beating IES, but eventually won 3-2 after
being 2-0 down. The win keeps Ipswich in second place. The 4's slipped
up against lowly
Holt Harlequins losing 3-1. An amazing turnaround considering
Ipswich won 14-0 last time. The 4's still stay in
second place. The 5's
continued their great run with a 1-0 win over North Walsham
3's, the win sees Ipswich slip to second place on goal
difference. The Vets
had to play a friendly against Shefford and Sandy as the opposition
could not raise a team due to injuries. Ipswich lent them 4
players but ran out 6-1 winners. Ipswich are now 7
points clear at the top of the table.
The Boys U15 played
Harleston in the national Cup and beat them 4-1 to progress
into the 4th round to be played on the 9th March.
The
Women 1's did
not have a game. The
Women
2's were held to a disappointing
1-1 draw with Bury St Edmunds. The
3's though took revenge beating Bury
2's 4-1. The 4's battled
valiantly against leaders Haverhill but lost 2-1. The 5's
play Lowestoft 3'sawating result.

Hall
goes close
The Women 1's star striker Jenny
Hall just missed out on the title
of 2007 Higgins Group Youth Winner. The title was won by
Sophie Bray but Hall was a worthy runner up with the judges
highlighting how close it was "As usual the judges
had a hard task to separate the candidates who came from a
wide background of hockey development. The girls’ runner-up
was Jenny Hall, now of Ipswich, who has been knocking at the
door all three years that the award has been made. Again, it
was a hairline decision."

Jenny
Hall in action for Ipswich v Liverpool Sefton in the EH Cup
2007
Congratulations
to Jenny and the club will be looking forward to seeing her
back in action next weekend as she returns to league hockey
after breaking her thumb in November last year.
