Men's 1's squeeze past students, but Women clean up.

The Women's 1's had a positive work out on Sunday running out 6-1 winners and will be looking forward to Sunday's Cup Quarter Final away against Doncaster.  The  Women's 2's beat Norwich Union and registered their first win in 2006.  The  Women's  3's beat Yarmouth 2-1 to move them up the table away from any relegation danger.  The 4's also won 3-2 against 3rd placed side East Bergholt to register a clean sweep of wins for the Women. The 5's game v IES 3's was postponed.

The Men's 1's again had to pay homage to goal machine  Richard Evans as he fired in 2 goals to see them beat Cambridge University 3-1. The Men's 2's game v West Herts has been postponed due to half the team getting stuck on the M11 for over 7 hours!!. The 3's could not continue that winning run as they lost 2-1to  UEA 2's  The 4's beat Norwich City 5's 7-2 to keep their winning run going. The Vets beat  Bury St Edmunds 3-1.

Men's 1's aim to cane students!

The Women's 1's have a friendly game on Sunday in their build up to the Cup Quarter final next Sunday. While the Women's 2's play Norwich Union and will be looking to get their first win of 2006.  Women's  3's play Yarmouth who are 3rd form bottom and only 2 points behind the 3's a win is a must.  The 4's too will want to get a win against east Bergholt but face a tough test against the 3rd placed side. The 5's play a friendly against IES 3's.

The Men's 1's will be looking to goal scoring maestro Richard Evans to increase his tally against the leagues bottom side. However Ipswich only beat the students 3-1 in the previous game so this is by no way a forgone win. The Men's 2's will want to re-discover that winning feeling as they take on lowly West Herts. The 3's are back on the winning trail and will want that to continue against UEA 2's  The 4's are back in league action this week and face Norwich City 5's.The Vets play Bury St Edmunds away.

The Men's 2's will be looking to get back to winning ways as they face 4th placed team Pelicans. The Norfolk side are only 2 points behind Ipswich but Ipswich won the last meeting 6-2. The 3's face Dereham 2's this weekend and will be hoping for a better result than the loss to their 3's last weekend. The 4's don't have a game as Watton 2's have withdrawn from the league. The Vets have a busy weekend first playing Colchester on Saturday then facing Huddersfield on Sunday 13.30 start at Tuddenham Road in Quarterfinals of the vintage cup.

Ipswich's England star Jo Ellis was last night celebrating the news that she will be going to the Commonwealth Games in Melbourne as part of the England Women's hockey team. Ellis will be looking to go one better than 2002 where she was part of the squad that won Silver after losing to India in controversial circumstances.

The Women's 1's will play fellow Premiership side Doncaster away in the cup Quarterfinals. This will be a tough game for Ipswich as Doncaster are a tenacious side that will never give up but Ipswich are more than capable of getting the win if they play to their strengths.

The tie will be played on Sunday 5th March.

Men's and Women's 1's show true colours with 2 wins.

The Men's 1's produced an amazing attacking performance to beat  Plymouth Marjon 9-4 and leap frog over their visitors into 5th place.  You can view and buy photos from the game here. The Men's 2's lost 1-0 to East Prem B leaders Dereham but it was a great game of hockey and Ipswich played well despite missing several key players. The 3's slipped up again losing 2-1 to Dereham 3's. The 4's beat Thetford 4-3 and moved up to 3rd in the table. The Vets hammered Bedford 11-1 with Peter Glading scoring 7 of the goals.

The Women's 1's continued their winning run over Olton in the cup with a 1-0 win to progress into the Quarter finals. It was a good game of hockey and Ipswich will now be hoping for a home draw.

A depleted Women's 2's side battled hard against St Albans 2's in the second team Cup game but just lost out 2-1. The 3's did not have a game.   The 4's destroyed bottom team Mildenhall 14-0 in the biggest win this season.

A big thanks you to all the sponsors, especially our dedicated Club Sponsors Seven. who attended the games at Tuddenham Road on Sunday. The weather could not dampen the spirits and the fish and chips certainly helped fight off the cold.  It was great to see so many new faces at the ground and we hope you all enjoyed the day.

Men's and Women's 1's face test of character.

The Men's 1's play 5th Plymouth Marjon and with Ipswich only 1 point behind in 6th place a win for the home side is vital if they want to keep in touch with a top four finish.  The Men's 2's face East Prem B leaders and know that  win would see them go joint top. The 3's have to get a win against 3rd from bottom Dereham 3's if they want to keep in with an outside chance of promotion. The 4's in a hot streak of form face 2nd from bottom Thetford and will want to continue their march up the table into 4th place with a good win.  The Vets

play Bedford and will look to discover the winning touch.

The Women's 1's will be looking to move into the cup quarter finals but 2nd placed Olton stand in their way. The last time the teams met in the Cup it was in the final in 2002 and  Ipswich won 3-2 through a golden goal.

The Women's 2's do not have a league game but instead face St Albans 2's in a second team Cup game. The 3's do not have a game due to East league taking a break.   The 4's will want to out last weeks loss behind them as they play bottom team Mildenhall.

Sun 12th is Sponsor day as women's 1's and 2's have Cup games.

The Women's 1's will be looking to bounce back by marching into the cup quarter finals at the weekend. The team face 2nd placed Olton in a tough cup game.  With all the pitch boards sponsors attending the day, along with several V.I.P's from around Ipswich it is another important day for the Club.

The Women's 2's also face a tough cup game against St Albans 2's, who are in second place in East Div 1S.

6th February  2006

Women dreams are dashed but future looks bright.

The Women's 1's lost 12-6 to eventual Champions Chelmsford in their semi final. Despite the disappointment the team can be rightly proud to have made the finals and been part of Hockey's biggest domestic event in over 10 years.

The team will have learnt a lot from the weekend and will be planning to take those lessons into the outdoor season which resumes with a tough cup game on Sunday v Olton.

The Women's 2's played  Watton away and had to battle hard for a 2-2 draw in a very physical game. The 3's will be buoyed after a great display against Colchester and will be up for a bit of revenge against a Haverhill side that beat them 3-2 back in November.   The 4's lost 3-0 to IES and will be disappointed with the result..

The Men's 1's did not have a game.  The Men's 2's were 2-0 down against  Wisbech but took control to win 6-2 to stay in the 3rd promotion spot. The 3's could not get the win they wanted as they lost 2-1 to 2nd placed Norwich City. Their promotion fate seems now to lie in others hands. The 4's destroyed face 2nd from bottom Bury St Edmunds 4's 7-0.  The Vets lost a close game to Chelmsford 1-0.

Women dreaming of Europe, while Men aim to keep climbing.

The Women's 1's travel up to Birmingham this weekend to play in the national Indoor finals and are aiming to go one better than last year, when they finished runners-up to Slough.  The team first though must face indoor league Champions Chelmsford in a keenly anticipated semi-final. The game starts at 11.10 am at the NIA Arena with the winners going onto face either Bowdon Hightown or Canterbury in the final at 15.40.  Highlights of the semi and the live final, will be screened by Sky Sports 3 (Starts 17.30 Sun 5th Feb, channel 403). The winners of the event will represent England in Europe next year.

The Women's 2's face Watton away and with the Norfolk team only 3 points behind them Ipswich will be keen to re-discover the winning formula. Ipswich won 2-0 in the seasons earlier fixture. The 3's will be buoyed after a great display against Colchester and will be up for a bit of revenge against a Haverhill side that beat them 3-2 back in November.   The 4's will be hoping the weather allows them to play against an IES side 3 points behind them.

The Men's 1's do not have a game.  The Men's 2's face another crucial game against Wisbech. The reverse fixture saw Ipswich lose 3-2 and they know they cannot afford to slipi up this weekend in a very close promotion race. The 3's also need to get 3 points as they play 2nd placed Norwich City 2's, who are just 2 points above them. A win would see Ipswich move into the 2nd promotion spot. The 4's face 2nd from bottom Bury St Edmunds 4's and will be keen to get the 3 points. The Vets face a tough game v Chelmsford away.
