Ladies 1's taste joy and defeat

The 1's took their first 3 points of the season on Saturday with a great 3-0 win over Olton, it was a real team performance and showed what the side can do when they really want it. Sunday however saw the downside with a 4-0 loss to Sutton.

The 2's battled to the end but a controversial stroke against them saw Letchworth win Saturdays game 2-1 and the league title. Sunday however saw Ipswich bounce straight back with a 3-1 win over Dereham

The 3's battled to a 1-1 draw against Lincoln.

The 4's turned over Felixstowe 2's with a great 10-2 victory.

A topsy turvy weekend for the 1's and 2's both recording 1 win and 1 loss. The 1's can be rightly proud of Saturdays result but need to look at their team performance in a dire game on the Sunday.

Men's 1's hit 5 past rivals as 3's keep in touch but 5's go down!

Ipswich 1's gained revenge against Chelmsford with a 5-1 thrashing of the Essex team. A good 2nd half display saw the home team keep themselves mid table and 5 points clear of any relegation worries.

The 2's game v Broxbourne was postponed due to snow.

The  3's beat  Dunmow 4-0 to keep within 2 points of a promotion spot and with a game in hand.

The 4's lost 6-0 but are still in touch with safety and have all to play for.

The 5's lost 3-0 v Brentwood 3's and unfortunately see themselves relegated form Div 6 SE to div 7 in a very hard season for them.

The vet's drew 0-0 with Waveney. Very unusual to see the vet's without a goal.

Good results for 1's and 3's shame to see the 5's go down but they have battled all season and will bounce back next year.

The U18 girls will face Chelmsford U18's in the quarter finals away on 21st March.

26th February 2004

Ladies 1's and 2's play double headers

The 1's face a double header weekend, playing Olton and Sutton Coldfield on Saturday and Sunday respectively. These two teams are Ipswich's nearest rivals in terms of League placing and the Suffolk side will be aiming for maximum points to kick start their season.

The 2's also have a double header and need to take their Cup form into a tough away game against runaway league leaders Letchworth. Ipswich however are one of only 2 teams to have been the leaders and another win here would postpone Letchworth's league party for another week at least. Sunday sees them at last take on Dereham after the game was postponed back in November. This will prove to be tough game but Ipswich will want the points to keep them moving up the table.

The 3's will want to bounce back against Lincoln to keep them in the top half of the table.

The 4's face Felixstowe 2's and will be looking for a repeat of their 7-0 win over the visitors earlier on in the season.

A very big weekend for the 1's,  and 2'swith 6 points available. A win on Saturday for both would set them up for a great games on the Sunday.

Men's 1's face Chelmsford as promotion chasing 3's aim high

Ipswich 1's know that they have to out last weeks disappointment behind them as the face Chelmsford 2's. With 5 points between them and relegation Ipswich must build on their hard work to get a result from this game. They narrowly lost 4-3 last time round so this should be a close game again.

The 2's on the back of a good win play 3rd placed Broxbourne and will be hoping to reverse an earlier 3-0 loss.

The  3's play Dunmow, who upset league leaders Southend last week and know that they will be in for a hard game. A 1-0 win to Ipswich last time shows how close their game could be.

The 4's put in a brave display last week and face 3rd placed Thurrock this sat. They only lost out 1-0 last time but know that they really need a win to get them out of the relegation zone.

The 5's face Brentwood 4's whom they lost 3-0 to last time but will be aiming to turn the table this time.

The vet's amazingly seem to have week off!!

Some really important games for the 3's and 4's, both battling hard, one to go up the other to stop going down.

Boys U15 in Cup Quarter finals as Girls U18 repeat performance in the Plate

The Boys U15 team marched into the Quarter finals after a great 3-1 win over Old Loughtonians. They now face Canterbury away on march 28th

The U18 girls destroyed Brentwood 12-1 last weekend to cruise into the Cup plate quarter final. They are still waiting for the next round draw.

23rd February 2004

Ladies 1's play well but taste defeat as 2's have best weekend so far

The 1's faced 2nd placed Clifton and despite the score line showing a 4-2 loss Ipswich can be proud of their performance. Fielding a defence line up of an average age of 17; including a debutant GK, the entire Ipswich squad gave it their all. At 3-0 down things could have gone from bad to worse but the Suffolk side dug in deep and clawed the game back to 3-2, with chances to make it 3-3. Eventually Clifton's extra experience and squad of international players told as they scored their 4th goal but Ipswich know they have a real squad for the future and can be proud of their performances.

The 2's played Folkestone and with the pressure on they turned in a fine 3-0 win. So tight is it in the bottom half of the table Ipswich now leap above Folkestone and into 7th place, still with a game in hand. Not bad for a team that at the start of 2004 was bottom of the table.

The Sunday saw the 2's travel to Leicester to play the quarter final of the 2nd Team Cup. Not really knowing what to expect Ipswich started slowly but soon found  another gear to run out 6-1 victors and secure a semi final slot.

The 3's played Long Sutton and will be disappointed to lose 2-0 but they were not helped by seeing 2 of their players promoted to the 2's squad.

The 4's faced Felixstowe and lost 6-0 but again with a weakened squad they work hard but could not overcome the league leaders who just had too much experience for the young 4th team.

Despite the battling performance by the 1's the weekend truly belonged to the 2's. For the first time since 2000 Ipswich are in a National semi final but this time the glory belongs to the 2's who deserve their moment in the limelight.

23rd February  2004

Men's 1's just lose out as 2's and 3's get good wins.

Ipswich 1's will be disappointed to lose 2-1 to Crostyx but with other results going their way at least they remain 3 points clear of any relegation worries.

The 2's bounced back with a good 3-1 win over Wisbech. The win saw them jump over Wisbech and move 5 points clear of any relegation issues.

The  3's played  bottom of the table Romford won 3-0. Not the goal glut they hoped for but with 2nd placed Southend losing it put the Suffolk side within 3 points of re-claiming a promotion spot with a game in hand. Still all to play for in this league.

The 4's had the  hardest game v league leaders Saffron Walden 2's  but put in a brave display to see them lose 3-0. They still occupy a relegation spot but only on goal difference from Harlow so it is not over yet by a long way.

The 5's played Saffron Walden 3's and put in a battling performance losing out 4-2.

The vet's played Broadland and lost 4-2, something the Vets are not normally used too!

Good results for the 2's and 3's and apart from the battling 5's all teams are still in with a chance of either promotion or securing their place.

19th February 2004

Ladies 1's face 2nd placed Clifton as 2's still need points for safety

The 1's are back in action with a tough away game at 2nd placed Clifton. Clifton are only 2 points behind the leaders so they will be looking for nothing but 3 points, while Ipswich are still searching for their first win of the season. Not helping matters is the fact that Sarah Bamfield and Becky Lawrence are not available to play. Ipswich will have to work hard to keep Clifton at bay and a point here would be a good result.

The 2's face Folkestone at home, knowing that a win would see them leapfrog over the Kent team and move the Suffolk's side even closer to their goal of securing Premiership hockey for next season.

The 3's face the long trip to Long Sutton but are playing well and a confident of putting in a good performance.

The 4's on a really good run of form play Felixstowe and will be looking for revenge after suffering a 8-1 loss in the previous fixture.

Some really good results in the last couple of weeks has boosted confidence. A real tonic would be the 1's getting a point at least.

19th February  2004

Men's 1's face tough test as remaining teams needs points.

Ipswich 1's play tough tackling Crostyx on Saturday knowing that they need to keep their winning momentum going to avoid any relegation issues. Nick Fry has been brought in to coach the side and with his expert knowledge coupled with last weeks results things are certainly looking up.

The 2's will want to bounce back after last weeks heavy loss with a win over Wisbech. Wisbech are only 1 point ahead of the Suffolk side and with both being too close to the relegation zone for comfort both side will not want to slip up.

The  3's face bottom of the table Romford and know that they need a heavy win to not only keep them up with the leaders but also to boost their goal difference.

The 4's have the hardest game v league leaders Saffron Walden 2's  but the 4's are a team on the up and they only lost by 3 goals in the previous encounter. Strangest fact of the day is that Saffron Walden 1's sit in the mid table position of the same league!

The 5's face Saffron Walden 3's and will keep on working hard for that first win.

The vet's played Broadland in a fixture they always enjoy.

Some hard games but with good results last week all things are possible.

17th February 2004

U18 girls hit 12 past Brentwood to make Quarter finals.

The U18 girls managed by Vic Sandall and umpired by Pete Galding, traveled to Brentwood on Sunday not knowing what to expect.

Fielding a strong side, including three 1st team players Ipswich shone and hammered Brentwood with an outstanding display of hockey. 2nd Team star Hannah Golding claiming 4 goals.

The quarter finals are on Sunday 21st March, so watch this space for the draw.

17th February 2004

Ladies 2's earn point as all Ladies teams get something out of games

The 2's bounced back from last weeks loss to record a 2-2 draw with Cambridge University. The students have not lost in 2004 and Ipswich are the first team to take point off them. It was a close game that could have gone either way and Ipswich will be looking to build on good performances as the face Folkestone next week.

The 3's played local rivals IES and even though they did not get the win are more than happy with a point, proving how far they have come since losing 8-1 in the previous fixture.

The 4's played Castaways and got a fantastic 2-0 win after 2 weeks of draws.

A good weekend all round with some excellent performances.

17th February  2004

Men's 1's clip Harleston wings as 3's do the double over IES

Ipswich 1's faced local rivals Harleston Magpies and a fine 2-1 win saw them move to within 1 point of the Norfolk side as the battle at the bottom table heats up. A vital win for the Ipswich team that keeps them 3 points clear of danger.

The 2's had the toughest match facing League leaders Pelicans and could not hold out losing 8-1.

The  3's beat IES 3-1 to keep up the hunt of a promotion place.

The 4's finally lost thier unbeaten 2004 run against mid table Colchester 2's losing 3-1.

The 5's played Romford 2's and went down with a battling performance 4-0

The vet's played Bedford and as usual ran out winners this time 7-2.

A great result for  the 1's with a mixed bag for the rest of the sides the highlight being the 3's beating IES.

12th February 2004

Ladies 2's lead the way, while 3's face local rivals IES

The 2's tasted defeat for the first time in 2004 last week and know that they still need points to keep them out of any relegation battle. This week they face 4th placed Cambridge Uni who are 6 points ahead of the Suffolk team. The students are on a good winning streak and will fancy their chances after beating a weakened Ipswich in their home fixture, but this is a string Ipswich team they will face and it all bodes for a close game.

The 3's play local rivals IES and will want revenge for the 8-1 loss they suffered earlier on in the season. The 3's too have a strong side and are more than capable of getting a result.

The 4's play Castaways and after 2 successive draw will be looking for a win.

A hard weekend for all teams but all field strong sides that are more than capable of getting the points.

12th February  2004

Men's 1's want points from derby game as 3's aim to keep in touch.

Ipswich 1's face local rivals Harleston Magpies at home on Saturday knowing that they need a win to keep them out of the relegation zone. With only 1 place and 4 points between the teams Ipswich know that a repeat of their earlier draw will not be good enough.

The 2's on the up after their good win last weekend, face League leaders Pelicans. In the last fixture they just lost out 2-1 so despite the difference in league positions this should be a close game.

The  3's will be keen to get back into action as they too face a local derby v IES 2's. Despite their opposition only having won 1 game al season the 3's cannot afford to be complacent as they need the points to keep them in the hunt for the league title.

The 4's will be looking to continue their great unbeaten 2004 run against mid table Colchester 2's.

The 5's play Romford 2's and will still be trying hard for that first win.

The vet's play Bedford

Another weekend of local derby's and big games, points are needed by all.

11th February 2004

King in GB Squad for Olympic Qualifier

Ipswich star Leisa King is one step closer to her Olympic dream after being selected for the GB team that will travel to New Zealand in March with the aim of Qualifying for the 2004 Olympics.

Leisa in action.

With only the top 5 teams making the Olympics, GB will be hoping to start the tournament well to reduce some of the pressure.

9th February 2004

Ladies 1's crash as only 4's get a point. 2's storm into Cup Quarter's

After so much hope came a large disappointment for Ipswich 1's. Beaten 4-1 by Doncaster the 1's need to dig to deep when the league re-starts in 2 weeks time away at Clifton. Ipswich at times played some good hockey but a lack of structure was the main problem.

The 2's tasted defeat for the first time in 2004 losing 2-1 to a equally uninspiring Croystx side. Sunday saw the 2's bounce back as they beat Wimbledon 2's 3-2 to make the quarter finals of the inaugural 2nd team cup. It was a great result for  the team and they now face Leicester away for a place in the semi finals.

The 3's faced Old Buckenham at home and lost 3-2 in a  close game.

The 4's played Grasshoppers and recorded another good 1-1 draw.

A disappointing league weekend with only the 4's getting a point but the 2's were inspirational in the Cup with a great 3-2 win.

9th February  2004

Men's 1's grab draw as majority of results are good.

Ipswich 1's faced mid table West Herts and worked hard to grab a point with a 2-2 draw. not the best result but a point could prove to be vital in such a close league table.

The 2's beat local rivals Harleston 2's 2-0 to continue their improving run and the win also saw them leapfrog Harleston in the league position.

The  3's traveled to  Waltham Forest only to find some confusion about start times. the game will now have to be re-arranged.

The 4's continued their great run with a 3-2 win over local rivals IES 3's. More important was the 3 points that sees them keep alive hopes of reaming in the division.

The 5's played Upminster 3's and unfortunately lost 10-0 in another hard match.

The vet's played Broadland and racked up another win, this time 2-0.

Some excellent results, especially for the 2's and 4's, things are looking brighter week by week.

5th February 2004

Ladies 1's aim for 3 points; as 2's look for 4th win in a row

After an excellent battling display in the Indoor league Ipswich 1's are looking to bring that from to their outdoor performances as the National League restarts on Saturday with a home game against Doncaster.

'The 2's will be looking to continue their unbeaten 2004 run with another 3 points against Croystx, who they beat 1-0 in the home fixture. Then on Sunday the face Wimbledon 2's (12 noon Tuddenham Rd) in the 1st round of the 2nd Team Cup. This will prove to be a hard match as Wimbledon are South Div 1 winners for the last 2 seasons and at present sit at the top of the table again. Ipswich however have hit a rich vein of form so it should be a very good game.

The 3's face Old Buckenham at home and will be looking for revenge after suffering a 5-3 loss in the away fixture.

The 4's play Grasshoppers and after a 1-1 draw in the previous game both sides know this will be a close game.

4 wins out of 4 are the aim and for the 1's a first win of the season would be a real reason to celebrate.

5th February  2004

Men's 1's look to hit back as 3's need win to keep up promotion hunt.

Ipswich 1's face mid table West Herts and know that they need points to keep them out of relegation trouble. Having lost 4-3 in the previous fixture Ipswich know that this task will not be an easy one.

The 2's on the back of a good win over Peterborough 2's play Harleston 2's in a local derby game. A 1-1 draw in the last game proves that this will be a close match and with only 3 points between the teams it could prove to be vital.

The  3's 2 points off a promotion spot play  Waltham Forest. They beat them 6-0 in the previous fixture but cannot afford to be complacent as they chase points.

The 4's on a real roll play local rivals and bottom of the table  IES 3's and will take a repeat of the 1-0 win earlier in the season. This will prove to be a close game.

The 5's on the back of their first 3 points pay Upminster 3's and will want to get revenge for a 5-0 loss.

The vet's play Broadland and will be going for another win.

Some really vital match's, and points are  a must for several atesm.

2nd February 2004

Ladies 2's hit 5 as Bury's season hangs in the balance

The 2's continued their winning streak in 2004 with a 5-0 victory over bottom of the table Bury ST Edmunds. At the start of 2004 Ipswich lay bottom of the Premier League with 8 points but the Suffolk team now sit mid table with 17 points, a reassuring 8 points clear of Bury and bottom place. Ipswich dominated the match from the start and even coped with playing with 10 men for at least 30 minutes, due to the doubtful double sending off of Kirsten Spencer. Ipswich determined to wipe out the 3-0 loss to Bury at the start of the season, were rightly satisfied with a job well done.

The 3's also proved a point to local rivals Carlton Park beating them 6-2. A sweet victory considering the Park side contained a couple ex-Ipswich players.

The 4's played Sudbury Tigers and were unlucky to have to settle for a 3-3 draw as Sudbury equalized near the end of the game. A good point though for a very young teams.

An almost perfect weekend but great to see all teams picking up points. The 2's and 3's will be especially pleased with their results.  Well done!

2nd February  2004

Men's 1's hit for 6, as form book turned on head in other teams.

Ipswich 1's faced bottom of the table Peterborough and missed an Golden opportunity to move away from any relegation issues. Going down 6-2 to the bottom side was enough to see Ipswich on double training this week and the team will know that they cannot afford to give points away. The team now sit 1 place out of relegation danger but only on goal difference and winning habits must be returned to quickly.

The 2's faced Peterborough 2's who are also bottom of the Premier B league, but they showed the 1's how it should be done winning 6-0. The win moved them out of the relegation zone by 1 point.

The  3's faced 3rd placed Southend and lost 4-2 to see them leapfrogged by the Essex team and drop to 3rd place and out of the promotion zone. With only 2 points in it there is still everything to play for but each game is vital.

The 4's on the back of a great win over Harlow took the game to 2nd placed East London and came away with an outstanding 1-1 draw. A very important point and one that keeps them in with a real fighting chance of avoiding the drop. A real turn around for a  team that was beaten 12-0 by East London at the return fixture.

The 5's finally got their first win of the season, a 3-0 walkover against a Ford 2's side that could not fulfill the fixture. maybe not the best way to get 3 points but it moves the 5's off the bottom of the table for the first time all season and could be the kick star they need.

The vet's continued their winning ways beating Waveney 2-0.

A very strange weekend with the teams that have been struggling getting well deserved points. It is however vital that the men's 1's return to winning ways as relegation is something that would be hard to contemplate as it would mean the 2's would have to be relegated from Premier B due to the rule that you cannot have 2 teams from the same club in the Premier A or B League.
