January 2008 sees the National
Indoor Hockey Championships return to The National Indoor
Arena in the heart of Birmingham for the third year running.
Featuring the top four
men's and women's teams from the England Hockey Indoor League,
the action is guaranteed to be fast, furious and exciting. Hopefully
the Women's 1's will be there to cheer on to!
With the champions
winning the coveted European spot in 2009, Hockey's
Big Day In is not to be missed!

1's
sign off 2007 with good results
The Women's 1's
gave themselves a great chance of making a 4th consecutive
finals day with 3 wins and 1 loss over the weekend. The team
dispatched Bowdon Hightown 4-2 slipped up to Clifton with a
2-1 loss but bounced back to beat Chelmsford 4-3 and Sevenoaks
4-2. Ipswich lie in 4th place, tied on 9 points with
Chelmsford and Olton and 3 points behind leaders Slough. With Qualification for finals day only going to the top 4
Ipswich know that they will need probably a minimum of 2 wins
out of their remaining 4 fixtures in January 08 to make finals
day on January 27th at the NIA.

The Men's completed
a clean sweep of IES in a batch of pre-Christmas friendly
games, the 5's beat IES 4's 2-1,
the 3's
beat IES 1's 6-2 and the 4's
beat IES 2's 3-1.

1's
start Indoor campaign as rest of club relaxes.
The Women's 1's
are the only club side in league action as they travel to London
to play their first round of National League indoor games.
Ipswich face 4 tough games over the weekend against Bowdon
Hightown, Clifton, Chelmsford and Sevenoaks.
With Qualification for finals day only going to the top 4
Ipswich will need some good results to go into the second weekend,
on the 12th and 13th February 2008.

against IES, as do the Men's 4's, 5's
and Vets.

1's
finish East runners up but 2's make it into Cup semis
The Women's 1's
faced rivals Chelmsford in the finals of the East
Indoor Championships and lost 3-2 in a game marred by some controversial
umpiring. Ipswich while disappointed not to have retained their
title have learnt a lot from the weekend and will be keen to
build on some good performances as they National League starts
next weekend. The Women 2's
drew 1-1 with 3rd
placed Chelmsford 2's on Saturday in the NE14Hockey East Premier
league and then turned in a great performance to beat Old
Loughtonians 2's 2-1 in the 2nd team cup on the Sunday. The
win sees the defending Champions into the semi -finals were
they will play Loughborough Students 2's at home on Sunday
13th January 2008. The Women
3's drew 1-1 with Cambridge City 2's. The
4's
got their 4th win in a row by beating Sudbury 3's 4-1. The 5's though
lost 8-0 to league leaders Sudbury 4's.
The
Men 1's
had no game. The Men's 2's
beat 3rd from bottom side Bedford 4-1 and then matched the
Women with a great 2-1 win over Havant to reach the semi-finals
of the 2's cup in their season of entering. The Men's
3'sgame against Cambridge City
4's was postponed. The 4's
bounced back to winning ways with a 10-2 win over Dereham 3's. The 5's thrashed
Dereham 5's 12-1 . The Vets
completed a fantastic weekend beating Harleston 4-1.

1's
aim to defend title indoors, as 2's face Cup defence
The Women's 1's
travel to Cambridge to defend their East
Indoor title. They play Sevenoaks, Cambridge City and Old
Loughtonians for a place in the final on Sunday. The Women 2's
will be looking to continue with winning ways as they face 3rd
placed Chelmsford 2's on Saturday in the league and then Old
Loughtonians 2's in the 2nd team cup on the Sunday. The Women
3's play Cambridge City 2's and
should be able to field another strong team. The
4's
will be looking for their 4th win in a row as they face
Sudbury 3's. The 5's are
also on the up and will want a good performance against
Sudbury 4's.
The
Men 1's
have no game. The Men's 2's
will hope the weather does not halt proceedings again as they
face 3rd from bottom side Bedford. Then on Sunday they play their
first ever 2nd Team cup game against Havant. The Men's
3's are in 2nd place in the NE14HOCKEY East
Div 2 North League and will expect to take 3 points against
Cambridge City 4's. The 4's
will want to bounce back from their first loss in 18 months
with a good win over Dereham 3's. The 5's play
Dereham 5's and another win should be on the cards to keep
them in a promotion spot. The Vets
face another tough weekend playing Harleston who are 3 points
ahead of them, but Ipswich have a game in hand.

Ipswich boys make England team
Congratulations
to : - Jonny Gall, Josh Godfrey,
Mickey Franklin and Harry Martin
who have been selected for England U16 Boys. Ipswich are by
far the most represented club in the squad with only 1 other
club having 2 players. Congratulations
to them all and that takes the total to 5 for Ipswich Junior
players who will represent their Country at in age group this
year.

2's
lead by example as Vets pass gym test with flying colours!
The
Men 1's
had no game. The Men's 2's
game against Bishop's Stortford was postponed. The Men's
3's beat second bottom side
Bedford 2's 9-0 to stay in 2nd place in the NE14HOCKEY East
Div 2 North League. The 4's
lost for the first time in 18 months, losing 4-1 to UEA 2's. The 5's
got as 3-0 walkover win after
Holt could not raise a side. The Vets
had a weekend to remember as they beat Bishops Stortford 4-2 in
the NE14HOCKEY East League on Saturday then thrashed Indian Gymkhana
11-0 in the 3rd round of the veterans cup.
The Women's 1's have
a well deserved weekend off before they defend their East
Indoor title. The Women 2's
gained maximum points in NE14HOCKEY Prem League as they beat 4th
Cambridge University 5-3. The Women
3's also banged in 5 goals
beating 6th placed Cambridge Ladies 5-1. The
4's
won thier 3rd game on the bounce with a 3-1 win over Castaways. The 5's drew
2-2 with Mildenhall.
