Club Day

 

This Saturday 30th August is Adult Hockey Club Day, from 13:00 until 16:00 at Henley Road.  The afternoon will comprise of 6 aside mixed games in a round robin format with finals at the end.  Come along and have a go, all welcome especially any new members.

GB Women get vital point

 

Jo Ellis and the Women's Team fought back from 2-0 down against World Number 2 Argentina to grab a point with a 2-2 draw. Jo and the Team now play New Zealand on Thursday and know that they will need a win to keep them in the hunt for a semi final place.

GB News

 

Jo Ellis and the Women's Team had a torrid start to their Olympic Campaign losing 5-1 to current champions Germany. A good start from GB saw them create chances but they could not convert them. Germany made no mistake with their chances and punished some basic errors by the team.

 

The Women now play World Number 2 Argentina tomorrow morning.

 

The Men got of to a near perfect start with a 4-2 win over Pakistan and will be looking forward to their game v the Netherlands with renewed confidence.

Ipswich players in England action

 

Chloe Hunnable returned from Holland with a Silver medal after the England U16 squad lost to Holland in the Euro National Final.

Will Hearne was also in action for the England U18 Team and has been selected for the England School squad that will play in the UK School Games which run from 28-31 August in Bath and Bristol.

GB games on BBC 

During the Olympic Games, the BBC will be covering all of the matches involving the Great Britain men's and women's teams. 

The coverage is available through the BBC Interactive service on Freeview, Cable and Satellite, and is accessible by pressing the red button on your television remote when watching BBC1, BBC2 or BBC3.  All BBC red button coverage is also available to view live through the BBC Sport website.

Most of the matches will be shown live and then repeated later in the day.  The exceptions are the women's match against Argentina on Tuesday 12 August and the men's match against Canada on Sunday 17 August as those games start before the BBC's live coverage for the day.

Ellis arrives in Olympic Village 

 

Ipswich 1st Team player Jo Ellis and the GB Hockey Squad have finally arrived in the Olympic Village in Beijing. Jo has settled into her room and like the rest of the squad is itching to get out on the pitch for their first game on Sunday 10th August v Germany.

 

Jo was also at the Team GB welcome party and introduced the Hockey team to Princess Anne.

 

The Women's first game is at 14.00 (GMT) on Sunday 10th August and will be against reigning Olympic Champions Germany.

Club Day  

 

As in previous years the new season will kick off with the popular CLUB DAY. This will take place on Saturday 30th August at Henley Road and is the ideal time for current and new members to come along and catch up with everyone and find out about the new season ahead.

 

The day is FREE and is open to NON-MEMBERS as well.

 

It will kick off with a Junior Session followed by mixed 6 a side games and then refreshments in the bar.

 

There will be a kit stall open during the day and you can buy sticks, shin pads etc from the NRG shop in reception.
