Ellis and England grab Olympic dream

England beat Spain 3-2 on Saturday to secure a Bronze medal at the European Championships but they also secured a place at the 2008 Olympic Games to be held in Beijing.  3-0 up and cruising with 10 minutes to go England looked home an dry but when Jenny Bimson got sent off for a stick tackle Spain surged forward and reduced the deficit to only 1 goal with 3 minutes to go. Despite the pressure the England girls held on fulfil their dreams.

 

Ipswich's start player Jo Ellis played a huge part in all the games and along with the rest of the squad will now be working hard to ensure she retains a place in the GB squad that will travel to China.  Congratulations to Jo and the team.

Ellis and England aim for Olympic prize

Suffolk Sports Personality of the year and Ipswich's 1st team player of the season Jo Ellis is only 2 days away form one of the biggest tournaments of her career.  England open their campaign in the EuroNations on Saturday 18th august against Ireland and while her Ipswich team mates will be at the wedding of 1st Team striker Sarah Tallent, Ellis will be concentrating on getting the home nation off to a good start.

 

England need a top three finish to secure a place the the 2008 Beijing Olympics.

Club Day

September the 1st is a date for the diary as we aim to kick off the season with the annual club day. The day starts a 10.30am with a 2 hour session for the Junior players (6-16) and is then followed by a 6-a-side tournament 13.00-16.00 for the adults.

The evening will see a Karaoke session so be prepared!

Food and drinks will be available during the day and you can also buy the latest club kit and try out our new range of hockey equipment.  Asics will also be attending the day so you can have your running style analyzed and make sure you are wearing the right shoes for you.

New and potential members also welcome, just head for the organizing table and introduce yourselves.
