Ladies
retain Suffolk Cup and win it for the 5th time.
Sunday saw a great day of hockey at Tuddenham road as the
Suffolk Clubs Championships was staged at the ground.
Ipswich
entered 2 teams in the competition and with both sides
playing well in opposite pools they met in the semi
final. It was a good game of hockey played in a spirit
becoming of 2 teams from the same club. The A team eventually
won through to the final, where they faced another unbeaten
side in the form of Sudbury.
Ipswich's
superior experience saw them through as they retained their
title with a 7-1 victory.
Large
thanks to the organisers form Christchurch hockey club and to
the umpires.

1's fall 1-0 to Leicester but Men re-claim County Cup
Despite the inclusion of Leisa King Ipswich could not end the
season on a high, going down 1-0 to a Leicester team that also
misses out on the play-offs. Ipswich have learnt a lot over this
tough season but there is no doubt that it will stand them in good
stead for next year.
The
Men finished on a high beating Bury1-0 to re-claim the
Suffolk County Cup. Richard Rutterford scored for Ipswich and
the Ipswich defence and GK George Pinner ensured that any Bury
threat was dealt with. A good win and a disciplined display throughout
the team.

will not give up their title easily.

Blackburn
pull out to see U18 girls into final
Ipswich U18 girls team made the final of the National Cup Plate
competition without hitting a ball in anger. With opponents Blackburn
un able to fulfil the fixture Ipswich made a Junior National
final for the first time in their history.
It was
not the way the team wanted to enter the game but the squad
cannot wait for a chance to play Teddington or Beeston in the
final on May 15th. Harleston Magpies will host the final
of the event so there is no excuse for not having a large
Ipswich crowd supporting the girls.

Men's
3's win promotion to Div 2.
After a long hard season where at times it felt like the Men's
3's were the only team that knew how to play a match and win;
the leading light in this seasons results finally out us out of
our misery and claimed the 2nd promotion spot into East League
Div 2 for next season.
A 3-2
win over Waltham Forest saw the 3's claim the coveted runners
up spot by a goal difference of 3 from Chelmsford 3's. Maybe 3
is the teams lucky number!
Congratulations
to all involved and as mentioned in the match report it will
be interesting to see our 3's take on IES 1's next year.

Ladies
1's grab late draw
The 1's played Slough at their new ground and finally
bounced back after 3 torrid weekends. A hard fought 4-4 draw was
the least Ipswich deserved in this fast flowing game. With only 1
game remaining after the Easter break Ipswich will be optimistic
that they can end their season on a up beat note.
The 2's faced Sevenoaks and lost the battle for 6th place,
going down 2-0. Considering they played the majority of the game
with only 10 fit players this was a good battling performance. A comfortable
mid table spot is a mini victory for a team that has dealt with a
lot of difficult circumstances.
The 3's
faced 4th placed Watton and earned a 1-1 draw to round off
a satisfactory season.
The 4's
on a real run face Stour valley who beat them 5-0 in
the reverse fixture, a different result is expected this time
round.
Not
the clean sweep wanted but a great draw for the 1's.

Men's
1's and 2's safe but 4's go down.
Ipswich 1's faced Bluehearts and got the win they
needed to secure Premier A hockey for next season. Great credit to
the team who dug in when the going got tough.
The 2's ended
their season on a losing note going down 7-2 to Colchester.
The
3's are still chasing promotion but a 4-1 loss to
Wapping leaves them up against it with 1 more game to play.
The 4's
faced the university of Essex and lost out 3-0 to see them
relegated to Div 5 SE. This has been a long hard battle for
the 4's and the so nearly made it. A quick promotion back up
next year would be an ideal tonic.
The 5's
had a hard game v 3rd place Waltham
Forest 2's and lost 9-1
The
vet's play St Ives away.
Well
done to the 1`s and 2's for securing survival this season. All
eyes turn to the 3's for their vital match on the 4th April.
